Fight nuisance calls, take control with BT Call Protect

We think no one should dread the phone ringing in case it's a PPI or accident claims company.

That's why we've developed some brilliant technology to help you take back control of your home phone from nuisance callers.

It's quick and simple to switch on. And best of all, it's free and just for BT customers.

How do I switch it on?

I have a phone (interesting Fear, really interesting) which blocks calls, forget what it's called now (definitely not Fred) but if you look in the shops you'll see them. The make of mine is BT (not with BT for phone but it works for any providor)

They have to announce themselves when they call (unless you have them on your allowed list) and it works like a charm.

I get no sales calls or spam rubbish at all on my landline now

Also registered the mobile with the telephone preference service ... I found it poor for landline but thought what the heck. Again, hardly get any sales calls now.

Now that is Interesting but surely BT could block these calls at source.

suppose they would argue its up to us to say we want them blocked?

It's a whole industry that no one wants really isn;t it the telephone marketing, these sorts of things must be hitting them massively and although I respect ones need for a job, these are a trial and very intrusive.

We changed our number 3 years ago after a month of ''cough'' gentlemen of foreign persuasion kept ringing. The last time was at 10-pm at night, I went ballistic at them.

I rang Virgin our provider and it was changed within 24 hours. We don't really give the no out. Infact if it rings we all look at each other as if to say ''WTF is that?'' and ''I am not answering it''

The only people that ring the number are my 2 brothers, the Doctors and Dentist that I can think of. If it rings once a month that is it.

Everyone gets our mobile now. The majority use mobile. In a generation landlines will be obsolete in private homes, Virgin Media engineer told us
