Brussels attacks..

Alert Team
My condolences to the victims and their families.

I fear that our own horrible events are only creeping closer, I pray I'm wrong.

what reasonable and fair solution can you take when the problem is neither? it's an impossible situation.

I don't see that my solution is unreasonable or unfair.

Target all those that fit the profile of a terrorist, assess for risk, any doubts deport or detain until proved no risk.

It's an almost impossible task now - The head of Belgium's iternal security said they are at beyond full stretch and simply don't have the resources to monitor the actions of now thousands of potential terrorists.

We have the same problem.

how do you monitor what is going on the mind of an individual? anyone can wake up one day, muslim or not, and go wreak havoc. why do people feel the need to rebel in such a way? it can only be because they do not feel part of society, be it through persecution or not having the opportunity. i.e. hate and poverty. it is these two things we need to address.

we bombed syria, and we get another terrorist attack in return. it does nothing.

NATO or a joint Euro force sweep the Country in question and prioritized as being highest risk. Complete the operation and move on to the next .

The terror threat has to be removed from within, then stopped from entering ala Donald Trump .

It's a major operation but there is no other quick fix. Possibly some utopian dreams of integration in the future but it's now that matters.

yes let's forever raid brown men's homes for the rest of their lives. hello 1984.

that kind of divisiveness is what gives credence to terrorism in the first place. the world needs, as a whole, to ensure that there is no possible reason for anyone wanting to commit acts of terrorism. people like Trump and the smeary bollocks he comes out with are the reason the West gets such a bad name and is a target for terrorist groups.

the "close the borders" argument is also hilarious. as if once you "magically" get rid of native terrorists in your country, closing the borders will keep future terrorists out. get it into your head : division and hate are the roots of terrorism. closing borders and telling the rest of the world to deal with it will cause hate within our own borders. the only way to stop hate is to show british muslims that no matter what our differences are, we are all human and we all deserve a chance at life.

Spurfect, the West has long been a target for terrorism - the first excuse begun with the 'support' of Israel, and since then the excuses for murder and indiscriminate slaughter has been myriad - I do except that Western Policy makers haven't helped, but now if we are to find a 'cure' for Deash, who are nothing more than a death cult - we have to give them their ultimate dream and sweep them off the face of the Earth for good.

Whilst I am an anti-interventionist, the time has come that we attack them from all sides and annihilate them once and for all - there is no reasoning with them, no negotiating and now way to reach a compromise.

And we have to see ALL Muslim countries commit themselves to this end - as ultimately, they lose far more innocents to acts of terrorism than we do, by a huge and devastating margin.

haven't France, the US, Russia, us and god knows how many other countries been bombing Deash for more than a year now? what has it achieved? two more terrorist attacks in europe. what was there before Daesh? Al Quaeda. And before them? you can't possibly just remove terrorism from the face of the earth through millitary intervention, because even if you did manage to kill every member of Daesh, a new terrorist group will appear....because we have not solved the problem of the Wests uneducated vilification of Muslims.

No you won't remove terrorism; but we need to wipe them out by using conventional forces now - overwhelming conventional force from all sides - then we can have a new UN inspired conference with all the regional players involved to rewrite the post-Ottoman empire border agreements (there was actually more than one).

Until we corner them, wipe them out, they will continue to have a training and logistics base that allows wannabe radicals succour and the means to continue their attacks.

Of course, this won't solve the problem completely, we'd also have to secure our borders (across the whole of Europe, so that means ditching Schengen ) and it means pouring more resources into Muslim communities here so that we can nip radicalisation in the bud - and that means licensing iman's and removing so much of the offensive material that they use for their religious schools - it really is truly shocking what's in their religious course books, as they preach hatred of the worst kind and if we allow this to continue integration on any level can never truly happen here.

spurfect11 I don't know why anyone believes that killing every last ISIS foot solider in Syria and Iraq will have any baring on what happened in Belgium or Paris. The genie is out of the bottle. The hatred that hundreds of years of adversarial colonial exploitation and interference in the middle East has created a fixed narrative. The 7/7 bombers came from Leeds. Historic crows have come home to roost. This is now a generational struggle that water boarding and drone strikes will not change. Europe is a wash with weapons from the Balkans and there is already enough of them that this viral insurgency will continue to have teeth for decades to come. There is enough munitions knocking around from WW2 let alone Yugoslavia to keep the death cults going for decades. Despite this we keep making the stuff exporting it and looking dumbfounded when it's returned to us in the hands of a disenchanted brainwashed youth. As for Blairs's flabby liberalism he is shameless, his hands are all over this nightmare. The second Iraq war created many of the main players in this sorry story Looking for answers from the same people that caused the problem is vile.

I supposed the logic is we bombed Isis into creation we can bomb them out of it. :69: Hmmmmmm

Isis or some form of 'radical' Islam has existed for decades; the Arab spring/the interventionist wars simply gave them room to grow and prosper - destroying their infrastructure, cutting off their financing and showing that we have the means and the will to literally destroy them as a credible force won't bring about an end to this - but it might well be the beginning of the end.

Blair and Cameron simply did not and we still haven't learned the lesson of thinking we can simply intervene, withdraw and watch the populous all become grateful rights aware citizens who want to live in peace.

We should have stayed out of Iraq and let Saddam get on with it, the same goes for Libya and Afghanistan; by all means show that we have the capability to bring about retribution, but people deserve the governments they get and we've got no right to intervene just because we don't like how they treat their own citizens.

If nothing else, Syria should prove that once and for all.

People not only get the governments they deserve they have the right to reconcile themselves to those regimes or overthrow them, as developmentally they see fit. It's called progress, if we'd had constant interference in our own march to relative enlightenment we'd be no better off than parts of Africa or the East. We are not somehow special (despite what some think) just in relative terms unmolested. Sooner we get our head round this the better off we will be. The difficulty arises (I fear) in our reluctance to relinquish our "right" to the environmental assets and economic wealth of these regions. I desperately hope we are saved by someone toiling on obscure data sets in a lab, that makes redundant our reason to up to our necks in other folks business. It is the only chance we have left.

Very saddened but very surprised to see that the EU/ NATO/ Belgium had let their guard down - it was near enough obvious that an attack was imminent after that arrest .... let the British police take charge they seem to have the nouse... at the cost of EU or the NATO - we pay enough taxes for both of these.

The two suicide bombers and the one that got away were all known to the police and intelligence. So how did they get that far ?

This is my point about screening all potential terrorists. If they had assessed these three more invasively they would be locked up or deported.

We may have antagonised them in Syria etc but we don't have a religion which has such disgusting values or ultimate aims. They do so should be dealt with with a fist of iron, not kid gloves.

To suggest atrocities are unavoidable could be true , I suggest we have a damn good go at protecting ourselves by attacking the enemy within and keeping them out. It's no good giving in and mopping up the rivers of blood afterwards .

Playing the nice guy and doing nothing, won't achieve anything either 11.

They will still attack, as their religion tells them too. Yeah right. There will always be an excuse.

Anyone seen the film Equilibrium? Not a bad idea.

Belgian and French raiding suspect homes and finding evidence, no surprise there. This is what needs to be done. The slightest intelligence or suspicion needs action.

No good saying the bombers were known to authorities, act on it before innocent people die.
