Brighton v Swans EFL/Carabao Cup Wed 22 Sept 19:30
Next up we are away to Brighton in the Cup and we meet up again with our ex-manager Graham Potter.
Brighton are flying at the moment and sit fourth in the Premier League table on 12 points after five games, four wins and one defeat, their latest result a 2-1 win over Leicester on Sunday. Seven goals for and only four against, they are strong defensively.
This could be a very tough game for the Swans, depending of course on what sort of team Potter will put out. There is no high expectancy for us to progress further in the competition due to the squad still being in transitional phase and getting used to a new style of play.
At the moment it’s hit and miss, the Luton match being an example of two extremes of play. A disastrous first half where the team were in total disarray, conceding three goals, and were down and out.
A triple substitution at half time produced a momentous second half turn around, where we scored three goals to draw the match, and should have won with the chances created.

In the previous round Brighton beat Cardiff 0-2. Brighton made 11 changes from the last match, a league win over Watford. Cardiff, who were unbeaten, made 8 changes, but were handicapped when key defender and captain Sean Morrison went off injured after 34 mins and was replaced by teenager Oliver Denham.

Brighton Reserves 2 - Swansea Reserves 0
Brighton made 11 changes, Swansea made 9 changes. We could have played a stronger team and possibly progressed further in this lucrative competition, but made the same mistake as Cardiff in the last round, making too many changes and playing players out of position. We were wide open for both their goals as you will see from the highlights and squandered two or three easy chances.

Agree with a poster on another forum, we have quickly gone from “we won - but” under Cooper to “we lost - but” under Martin.
