Guardiola beats Mourinho in battle for Kidd

Kiddo is part of our furniture and good for continuity in the dressing room, he will be 70 after Peps contract expires, so time to smell the roses and take up lawn bowls then.

I don't think this was in any doubt, I think we all know his heart will always be red, he won trophy s there, but you cannot fault his commitment here and his genuine reactions to goals

I think his commitment to Manchester football has been superb, but I'm not sure, Buzz, that I heard he was a Blue growing up?

Stand to be corrected, but I remember he was the subject of one of Ian Cheeseman's 'In The Spotlight' profiles for Radio Manchester a couple of years ago, and that was a great listen.

Red or Blue he seems a decent chap and good that he is staying put.

Having said that we don't know what role he might or might not have been offered at the swamp - if Family Man was turned down for the second in command due to Jose bringing in a much favoured lieutenant then it is possible that our Brian might have been offered a job encouraging the juniors and that he felt better off continuing to sit on our berti, albeit in a somewhat subservient capacity.

I am pleased he is staying. His services in acting as a bridge between the new coaching team and the players, the club cannot be under estimated. Everywhere I have worked the places that function the best are those where they have people in a continuity role - you always need someone around who knows how the place functions and where the kettle is.

Good to see his loyalty rewarded AND that Guardiola recognises the benefit of having someone around who has this quality to offer.
