Brennan Johnson - Player Thread

Mason gets a bad press here, but he's a highly intelligent coach and he's learned much at the hands of Poch, Jose, Conte and now Ange. He's also worked closely with kulu on his improvement program - he's making a positive difference.

The players ALL rate him very highly.
Is he just a backroom coach or a manager/coach i.e. does he have the range of skills required to be a successful manager in addition to his coaching skills?

I honestly don't know, I've spoken with him many times and know he is still ambitious but until he tests himself in a managerial role, I would only be guessing.

As you can imagine his experiences have hardened him, but for different reasons I've long thought there is too much of the player still in him to (in my opinion) be a leader/command and control man that I still believe is essential in football management. My guess is he is not yet ready to make the ruthless tough decisions you have to make to be a successful manager.

But as I said, I'm only guessing.

Before long I think he will take one of the opportunities offered to test himself in management. He'd be daft not to. He's a smart guy though and he will know when the timing is right.

For now it is great to hear his positive influences on our players and that they appreciate his input. The change in Johnson has been very positive. His first time volley that went close in the first half Vs Spam showed his technical improvements.

Everytime he's threatened to move on, the new incumbent has persuaded him to stay. I think when he's truly ready and has that self-belief he will, but he so badly wants to be part of Spurs winning something, it eats him up.

Hey there is something to be said about being happy where you are at.
