Brazil

So, Brazil beats Spain to win the Confederations Cup, which comes as a huge "shock" to the world based on FIFA rankings. What most people fail to remember is that Brazil hasn't had to play a competitive match in about 3 years because they do not have to qualify for the World Cup, and Scolari has been blooding youngsters to find his best team.

I know it sounds strange to vent about it, but the way the Brazilian team plays is how I'd love to see the US (and even England, since I root for them too) play. And no, not the diving and simulation that they are famous for, but the passion with which they play every time they put on the national jersey. Jo was a gigantic failure in the Premier League, but he looks like Pele when he plays for Brazil. Rumors are floating around that Fred might be coming to The Etihad, but will he be as good as he is when he plays for his country?

Okay, rant over, life goes on.

Plenty of passion on show from Brazil but that's in front of their home fans. I've seen them plenty of times playing in Europe when they couldn't give a flying one.

I'm surprised to hear you pining for the US to play with passion Philly, as whenever I've watched them, albeit only in major tournaments, they've displayed incredible passion, I thought it was their biggest asset.

Well, the lads playing now have a lot of passion for the shirt. That hasn't been the case for the past few World Cups, and with the re-introduction of Landon Donovan into the squad I'm nervous he'll bring them down. He had the potential to be a world-class player and just never hit that high.
