The difference in the two teams yesterday,
Grayson has assembled a ‘big’ side, physically not numerically. They looked a lot leaner and played with a higher energy. They had better movement off the ball and in possession they moved the ball more quickly. We failed to work for each other, in possession, no or very little movement and very slow to move the ball on to the more ‘creative players’.

Speaking of which not sure why Grayson had Miley on the bench. Plus on 25 minutes a chance went begging which was right in Johnson territory, he was however on the bench.

Question…..is perseverance the key? I don’t think so in football, I only know of one instance Man United and Fergie. The knee jerk reactions, changing formations, swapping & changing personnel, manager sackings etc are rife in football.

It worked in the beginning what changed to leave us where we are currently? Try to work that out first.

Bobby Robson said “when you are in possession you are out of position, when you are out of possession you are in positions”. We just seemed to be stagnant, maybe in position the full time, not stretching them or ourselves.
Most of their forward play involved their number 10, who almost ran the show, a very similar player to Francis. Their defensive play was dominated by their number 18 who won most if not all of his aerial battles with Reid.

We live to fight another day, hopefully with more energy and enterprise.

I don't believe now is the time for a management change, SG has only been in post for a couple of months. Of Saturdays starting 11 only Sheron and Charman were with Pools at the end of last season, seems to me that it will take time for the new players and ideas to fully integrate.
However, I do think it important that Pools get 2 or more points from the next 2 away games (preferably from a victory) to bolster the squad resolve!

My apologies seems I’ve rather made the waters muddy, I’m not advocating a change of manager, I quite like him.

Just think he should persevere with his best 11, who I think Miley is one, and as there is no alternative Johnson should be another, to persevere with. Not sure why they didn’t start on Saturday.
If I’d have known before I bought my ticket Charman and Sheron were starting before them I’d not have bought it. I think perseverance should be the key and Grayson should not be swayed.

Think it was Merson who said managers have a best 11 written down and hidden in a drawer, when it gets a scary they return to the drawer, so to speak.
Defensively we’re sound let’s not get in their way. Midfield should be Topalloj left, Francis right, Miley centre plus one other, maybe Daly maybe Walker, has either done enough since signing? We do need that spark that we got from Cleary, Grayson must be looking.

I doubt there'll be any further signings until 1 or 2 leave, and in any case not for another month or so.

1 out, Folarin has gone to Chelmsford on loan until January!
Might make some room in the budget to bring someone in - probably on loan?
