Bolton v Swans

Another away match before the International break and another match against a lowly team, Bolton this time. We don’t do lowly teams very well, ask Ipswich and Rotherham.
Lying just above the relegation zone their last match was a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
They did go one better than us though, they drew 1-1 at Rotherham recently.
Will this match see the long awaited return of Bony and Montero?

Looking at the form guide Bolton are on a shocking run of form and their draw at Rotherham was their only point in the last 6 games -
Bolton:
Played 6, Won 0, Drawn 1, Lost 5, Goals for 1, Against 10
Swans:
Played 6, Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 3, Goals for 8, Goals against 7
Mind you our form is not too clever either. We are playing well but not seeing sides off after dominating possession.

Bony, who’s been out nine months, and Montero, who’s been out ten weeks, will they travel to Bolton with the squad later today? We’ll soon find out.
Potter on Bony yesterday - “Wilfried has trained well. He has progressed and he has looked sharp. He is with the group and he is now available for selection. We will have a look again on Friday but hopefully, if all goes well, he can travel with us to Bolton.”
Montero has been back in training with the squad for over a week.
Tom Carroll and George Byers are also back from injury so a selection problem for GP, but a nice problem to have with everybody fit.

A pleasasant day out, a 484 mile round trip out of the way, three points in the bag and just below the play-offs in the table, can’t be bad.
The impressive 28,723 capacity, recently renamed, University of Bolton Stadium was half full with 14k fans, 705 of which were Jacks, who were stuck up in the South Stand top tier above a completely empty lower tier behind the goal.
You already have a match report on the main page so I won’t go into too much detail.
It was almost a re-run of Rotherham the week before, with the Swans taking an early lead through a McKay scorcher from outside the box.
The difference this time was that we held on to the lead, but not without some frights on the way.
Bolton hit the bar and had two dubious penalty appeals turned down, but the ref, unlike last week’s “homer”, waved the appeals away and we were glad to see the final whistle.

Bony and Montero travelled and both came on late in the game to a huge reception from the away Jacks. Bony looked very rusty but it was good to see him get some game time after 9 months out. Montero made only one darting run and cross but didn’t have much of the ball to impress. Both a welcome boost to the squad.
A two week break now before a tough run of matches, starting with top of the table Norwich at home on Sat 24 Nov.

Possession 43% - 57%
Shots 12 - 10
Shots on Target 3 - 2
Corners 2 - 6
Fouls 14 - 9
Three yellow cards each but Bolton got away with too many fouls especially their number 5 Beevers. Mulder was booked for time wasting near the end, but we’ve seen this countless times from goalkeepers and the ref turning his back and ignoring it.
What struck me was the size of some of their players. Their number 10 ex- Newcastle player Sammy Ameobi was big at 6’4-1/2”, his shoulders looked as if they were padded out like a line backer in American Football.

Much better day out this time Keith! Only saw bits here and there of the game but it seemed similar to last week as you said. Again we dominated first half, missed two chances and scores only 1. Fortunately they were poor and ref ignored their pen appeals although they didn't look convincing and they were looking for them towards the end.
