Was it Ex-Ref talking about Coleman leaving Sunderland to go to Ipswich a while ago?

It's been a busy hour for SAFC. Sacked Coleman, club sold and Ellis Short says he's paid off the £150,000,000 debt. Mind the last one sounds too good to be true.
Anyway it's cheered up a lot of Sunderland fans. I hope you'll be visiting The SOL in 2018-19. I did post on here (with my tongue in my cheek) as last season was beginning that maybe the Cowley brothers could come to Sunderland after back to back promotions with Lincoln City. I hope you'll get the back to back promotions but I think we'd be too far North for Danny and Nicky.

Very unlikely after signing their new deals.
You'll probably get a right joker mate, maybe a returning Steve Cotterill....

*If* we get promoted, we'll be playing you having been 4 divisions apart last season.

£150 million debt? Surely not!

Presumably Stewart Donald will have to sell Eastleigh now - do FA rules prevent ownership of two clubs simultaneously?

Yep he released a statement earlier saying they're up for sale.

Yes. The scenario that I said was waiting in the wings was; Macarthy to leave Ipswich, Sunderland sold, Coleman leaves, Macarthy to Sunderland and Cowleys to Ipswich, Coleman to Lincoln.
The Cowleys screwed it up by staying at Lincoln. I'm totally happy that I'm wrong.

It is not all bad news for Sunderland they still get £35m parachute payment for next season and £14m the season after. If the debt has been paid off that is one hell of a budget in L1, compare that to the £1m Accrington have said they will have. It doesn't seem fair to me, being rewarded for failure on such a massive scale.

Completely agree. Parachute payments should be gotten rid of. Teams need to properly manage themselves on and off the pitch. Not a level playing field at all.

As a side issue though if he stays how many red cards will Cattermole have in league 1. Could end up a league record methinks

Likewise I thought it was about our friends up the road however some of the stories coming out of Sunderland are quite incredible for instance Coleman admitting that he has never met the owner Short since taking over and Rodwell on £70K a week has not been seen by Coleman for weeks he has just disappeared!!!

Seems like a club in complete free fall.
