Some angry, some bizarre and some just plain funny reactions to the Aston Villa v QPR match being cancelled.

QPR is now another mid week game, if you got a match day ticket you will get a refund if you can’t attend the re arranged game, but as a season ticket holder who makes a round trip of 250 miles a game you get no refunds, the amount of games switched with little or no concern for supporters travelling is now getting beyond a bloody joke I doubt we will have another 3pm kick of this season at Villa Park, I cant just keep taking holiday days from work for every game the club decide to to switch in their chase for the Sky dollar, I do know that. Will not be renewing my season ticket next season at least by buying tickets game by game basis I will be entitled to a refund unlike season ticket holders :16:

I think today is without doubt the correct decision, it would have been madness to go ahead.

But yes, the fans tend to be the ones shafted on a regular basis but since when has that been a surprise.

I understand the reason why the game was called off but the club closed the ticket office yesterday at 2pm but advertised the fact that tickets could still be purchased on line, why not just call the game off Friday and save supporters the time and hassle of trying to claim refunds, you don’t close the club down on a Friday afternoon and send the staff home unless the weather conditions are severe and it was obvious that the weather would not get any better overnight into this morning

It got really bad here from 2ish yesterday mate, they had cleared so much in and around the ground before then though.

The club did an amazing job and I feel bad it’s actually off.

It would have been a great achievement to get it on but last night was bad again.

Erm, I'm pretty sure today's game was postponed for that very reason. Roads and rail closed all over the place, continuing sub-zero temperatures on top of heavy snowfall: they are pretty good reasons to postpone a match.

Hilarious on the official FB page - plenty saying (and I quote) "There is no reason at all for it to be called off."

:59: :59: :59:

The one thing I will say in some these reactions defence is I fully agree that decisions should have been made earlier.

As soon as a Red weather warning was introduced the EFL , PL and SPL should have cancelled all games. The emergency services are at absolute breaking point (and trust me, I know) attempting to run a skeleton service and respond to 100% emergencies only as their own staff either cannot get in or their vehicles are just the same as everyones else.

It has been said many times "only travel in an emergency".

As soon as this was said, games should have been cancelled

Just think, yes, Villa have mafe the correct decision in the end, bit its not just football. Police attend matches. health staff attend matches, fire crews attend matches, St Johns attend matches etc.... All these organisations have had to plan for the football today when their services were needed elsewhere.

Some poor person is lying this morning having a heart attack or something because the Ambo that may have helped him is off the road due to being designated to be at Villa Park.

So (as I said Thursday) evety game should have been postponed. Villa have come to the right decision, but they shouldnt have been put in the position to as the authorities should have done it for them 3 days ago

That is a good point to be honest, once we are advised not to travel by the authorities there should be a blanket call off I guess of games.

They can always be rescheduled when it makes more sense to play.

All the greed league matches are on . TV money comes before Fan Safety , lots of ground will be empty like Arsenal the other night but the games will go on and sod fans who can't get there , who get stranded o killed trying .

They couldn't win either way really. Imagine the shit storm if they had called the game off on Thursday and then the forecast was wrong. (As it has been in the past at times)

They did the right thing keeping people informed and then calling it off early today in my humble.

Agreed, I would have cancelled last night or at least billed it as 'a very good chance unless things improve'.

I think the tweet/announcements yesterday saying the game at that stage was going ahead were daft. More snow was due.

I understand the pressure on the club though, if it had got better last night and was ok for today, they would have been a laughing stock.

No games off in the greed league

No as I said sod the real fans , just cater for the plastic TV watchers .

It won't be long before games are played in empty grounds with piped in sound effects and cardboard cut out fans

You mean like Arsenal this week 57?

Could barely get home from the office yesterday so getting all the way to Birmingham would have been difficult and I’m guessing a lot of other fans would be the same.

Then there’s the issue of safety at the ground, if someone slips on ice and seriously injured themselves then that’s not what anyone wants to see and the club would also potentially be liable

4 games in 11 days then from Tuesday night and we need at least 10 points . The squad will be stretched to the limits

Just did a five minute drive to parents, lorry blocking the road and having to be dug out.

I had fun mind you!

But totally the right decision.

Was no surprise it was called off based on what you guys were saying yesterday.

The one that was a banker in being postponed was the dogheads and their sun loving players.

At least we are now back to a full compliment of players for the games ahead.
