It is as iconic a local folk song as you would get, 150 years old last year

If you are outside the area, it takes in a load of local landmarks from the city down to where the races were held until WW1.

It has been sung for all my lifetime and for generations at SJP.

Not that it matters. Enough people, know enough of the words, most of the time.

Sung at away grounds, with a couple of thousand pissed up geordies, there is nothing better.
