BLADES v Rams at BDBL

Another Sheffield double, 4th after a 2 point deduction, a poor transfer budget and a threadbare squad. After a lot of negative press I would say Wilder is over achieving and back to is wheeler dealer best.

Happy with that... from up norf anyway. I just wish our 'strikers' would get on the scoresheet and start a run to ease the pressure a bit.

Would be nice for Moore to contribute
But, overall a really professional performance
IMO Souttar my MOM

Moore is the weak link at the moment - hopefully he will come good because the rest of our play is excellent

I thought Moore got into some really good positions
But, he picked the wrong option 90% of the time, which was a worry
Will it click for him?, not sure, but, I hope it does

Far too much is breaking down around Moore. Not because he's necessarily poor, but because he can't keep up with the speed of those around him. The attacking midfielders can move it quickly in tight spaces, Moore can't. And it's costing us goals.

I foresaw exactly this when we signed him, which is why I was so sure we'd sign another striker, of a different type. But for some reason, we didn't, and now we're playing a risky game until January because no one is capable of replacing him.

Luckily our defence looks good enough to keep us in contention at the top of the division. The CB pair is excellent, Cooper makes a huge difference, and both full backs have been quite solid and will get better as the season goes on.

Peck did well, coming in for Arblaster, but doing well for 6 weeks is a different challenge. It's an incredible opportunity for him and I think he'll take it, without necessarily starting every game, but we really could have done without this injury.

I never thought I would hear myself say this but we could have just offered McBurnie a new contract early instead of waiting until we sold someone. It would also have fitted with the reluctance of PA to pay fees. Our only hope is Campbell gets fitter because he can finish. I think any thoughts of Brewster replicating his youth form disappeared with the serious injury at Liverpool.

Said we might struggle as we usually do against teams with little ambition who pack their defence and so it proved but once we got in front (great strike btw) that was it cooper wasn’t troubled bar one shot in the 1st half
I keep saying it and no doubt I’ll carry on saying it until he leaves Brewster doesn’t get into goal scoring positions if he didn’t learn from one of the best in billy I doubt he will learn from anybody currently at the club, I really wish he would prove me wrong everybody wants him to succeed not least so it looks like we didn’t piss 20m+ up the wall but I’ve got to say I can’t wait for Campbell to jump in front in the pecking order
Brooks surely has to start in front of JRS next week the difference is huge atm and I’m quite harsh on brooks as a rule I haven’t thought he’s been that good just ok but he’s well in front of sakyi right now midfield doing ok against mediocre opposition so far (only played Watford up there) the defence is our strong point right now which after last season is very pleasing
Tougher tests to come but we can only beat what’s put in front of us

I think that would have been the difference if mcburnie was here to share the workload with Moore and have both up top when desperate I think could have put us in with a strong shout of autos unfortunately it wasn’t to be and I’m not 100% we can blame the club I think olli wanted to try pastures new

Moore ploughing a lone furrow. Needs a partner then we will get the best out of him. Thought young Peck had a decent game.

Rak Sakyi = Brewster light so far?

No impact, no end product, flatters to deceive.

McBurnie and Moore to rotate and share the load would have been perfect, I thought that was very obvious and also necessary, and if the club didn't realise this then they were foolish. It should never have been a case of one or the other, we needed both. In that case they should have committed to offering McBurnie a decent contract ASAP. I'm not sure exactly what we were playing at with him, or if he intended to stay (IMO he was open to it), but we were never going to get a better CF of that type at Championship level. He's right in his prime now and is a serious loss, maybe a very decisive loss for us.

I don't know why Campbell hasn't already jumped ahead of Brewster. I think Brewster is a weak spot for Wilder. He's determined to get something out of him for personal and sentimental reasons, and will continuously give him every opportunity no matter how unlikely he looks to score. He really should have learned much more by now. His game intelligence hasn't improved since the day he signed, and that is entirely on him. It's like watching a 5 a side player playing 11 a side.

Brooks playing as he is at RW has been a surprise and if I knew he'd be at the level he is, I would have said signing a left winger was a greater priority. That said, Hamer is starting in that position and scoring every game.

I think a Brooks - Hamer - Johnston attacking midfield trio might have been our best outcome.

I'd be thinking about dropping O'Hare. He can't be starting every game.

Good result, good performance in my opinion.Moore does need to improve his finishin but i think he had a good game overall.Sydie Peck had a very good game as did Gus(worra goal he scored) but my MotM was Souttar,a beast and a bloody good player also.I won't get carried away but once again i think we're doin well and the clean sheets are very pleasin,my mate said with 15mins left,he was gettin worried that he wasn't panickin with us only bein 1 in front.:giggle: UTB
