BLADES v Pompey away.

Wilder seems satisfied enough with a point.

A spirited and well organised performance by Portsmouth in what felt like a third round FA Cup game between two sides in different divisions. Perhaps I'm being greedy but we should be taking all three points away from a team with that little quality. Terrible ref seemed to think everyone was there to see him.

Cooper and Rak-Sakyi both impressed, as did Brewster with his cameo. I'm still wanting to see more from O'Hare and Burrows because they've got the quality to win games like this - they'd both thrive more in a 3-5-2.

I agree, rather see a 3-5-2 and at the moment we have the players for it. With a mix of Blaster, Hamer, Souza, Ohare, Peck as a central 3, not much in the division can match up.

I think that’s a six and two threes situation yes I think we would look better up top (it would help Moore no end having a partner up top) but we wouldn’t look so solid defensively it’s getting the balance right that’s the trick

Watched a programme on sky sports fri all the best goals from the 17/18 champ season (switched it on just as Duffy scored that goal 😁) anyway the main thing that stood out and we mentioned it at the time was how many goals we conceded from outside the box, just goes to show how important the keeper is (most important player for me) if only we had this lad then although he may have been still at school back then 🤔

Cooper would have kept out QPR's first so that's an extra 2 points we'd be sitting on.

Club captain Jack Robinson's going to to be available soon. His bollock dropping makes us defensively weaker but he'll give us some bite and drive and he'll make us a lot more dangerous at set pieces. But crucially Robinson in a back three is going to allow Ahmedhodzic and Burrows to contribute so much more to the attack.

I'm not going to knock O'Hare and Moore because they're working hard and doing what's being asked of them, I do worry that O'Hare's head's going to drop. It's the tactics that have to change.

Robinson won't come back in now. The only place for him is LB but Burrows appears to be one who's down to start every game, as he did for Peterborough.

Even if we changed to a back 3 I don't think he'd start in there ahead of Gilchrist.

I hope we change to a back 3 soon but I suspect Wilder won't want to be seen to do it.

If Wilder's going to stick with this formation he needs to tweak it.

A session with Knill studying Ipswich from last season might give them some inspiration. Ipswich with a similar formation, inferior players but a far braver and more potent attack, were blowing teams away. Chaplin worked really well playing off Moore/Hirst and Leif Davies was constantly in positions to get dangerous early crosses in - ideas we can get O'Hare and Burrows to take on board. O'Hare's focus should be on Moore and not with linking up with his pal Gus for some one twos.

Those overloads which were once Wilder's trademark, we're not really seeing either.

Norris is getting praise for his saves yesterday but there was only the save from Hamer's header that was exceptional. We were mostly limited to half chances in a game we should have created much more in. It's Portsmouth away, not Boro or WBA.

Rod, do you ever forecast anything other than a 2-1 win?
You’ve not been right all season BUT (as a superstitious type) please keep it going until we lose, then change it.
I’d certainly accept that. As everyone knows, football is completely unpredictable and therefore, we could get any result today.

P.S. To the gamblers among you; the best value for money bet of the weekend has gone.
Plymouth at 3-1, having beaten Sunderland in their last home game, at home to Luton who, according to unbiased reports, were “outplayed” by Wednesday last week. Those sorts of opportunities don’t come along that often, and they don’t always win, but if you’re serious about making a profit, they are the chances you should wait for. mi owd pal
