Another season of Championship football is upon us this Saturday when we travel to Blackburn Rovers in our opening game.
Away fans are allowed and over one thousand Jack Army fans are expected to be travelling.
Much has changed since we lost out in the play-offs on 29 May, ten weeks ago.
Our leader, Steve Cooper has walked away with a year still left on his contract.
Seven of the eleven players who played against Brentford in the Play-Off Final are missing - Ayew, Guehi, Woodman, Hourihane have all departed.
Last season’s team captain Grimes is on his way out, Fulton is suspended, and Roberts is injured long term. Plus three other players have left - Kieron Freeman, Declan John, and Barrie McKay.
Wayne Routledge has been given a new one year contract but is also out injured long term.
We have a new head-coach, Russell Martin, with a new coaching team, which means Mike Marsh and Martyn Margetson are following Steve Cooper out of the door.
It’s a big upheaval for any club and one that will take a while to come to terms with.
There have been three incoming players. Joel Piroe, Liam Walsh and Kyle Joseph.
Piroe and Joseph are relatively inexperienced and Walsh, good player though he is, was a risky signing because he is injury prone and already he is out with a hamstring injury.
It may be a tough start to the season until we can get reinforcements in and Russell Martin can get his style of play established.
Blackburn haven’t signed any new players and their leading scorer Adam Armstrong, 29 goals last season, is unlikely to be risked against the Swans as could be on his way out with Palace hot favourites to sign him for £20m.
