Blackburn away....Mulgrew out.

Vital Champions League
Mulgrew picked up a hammy against Preston and is out. Huge boost that this mon is sidelined.

It's a new day and hope springs eternal.

I go we finally win away

2-1.

No reason not to win this but how many times have we said that?.
Hope there is no rush of blood to the head with substitutions or sitting back . We saw how poor Rovers were at New Springfield, now get out there and get them beat Latics. Come on.

previous visits say a home win

played 11 won 1 2 draws and eight defeats not a happy hunting ground maybe the lynch mob will blame cook for this

Two teams short of confidence, it's got 0-0 written all over it! I can't see us being anything other than cautious, and they have injury problems.

Set them up exactly like against Reading, play exactly like against Reading, once they cross that white line hope individual players don't make costly errors again, don't make poor decisions again or don't under perform and let the rest of the team down again.
Good luck Cook, trust yourself and pray that the players can step up and deliver under pressure on the day.

Lennihan, Mulgrew and Rodwell all out - i don't think they have a senior centre half fit at all. They will likely have to have midfielders, full backs or kids in defences - so they should be vulnerable IF we attack.

They are in rotten form - another team there for the taking if we can turn up on the night and not do anything stupid. But these are the type of games we specialise in losing, we are to the point that we actually seem to raise our game in games when the opposition is in good form but when the opposition is garbage we drop of level to be worse than them. It would be so refreshreshing to see us come out of the blocks fast tonight and really get at them from the off, as at Reading we were all over the place and second best to everthing until we scored and we started to play. First goal is crucial as i imagine the Blackburn crowd could turn on them if we take an early lead as their fans are very restless.

Leon Clarke and Gibson should not be on the bench - bringing either on is like sticking another opposition player on as they are such liabilities. We need to get MacDonald and McMannaman back on the bench so we have 2 players who can help us manage games better.

Can't lose this one, draw isn't enough - have to start winning some of these easier games before we go back into the tough games. This is the type of game you have to win if you want to stay up.

We will score first,Cook will shut up shop, bring on three defensive subs and we will get beat .
Sound familiar?

To be fair he brought off Powell from attacking mid and put Clarke on against Reading and that wasn't a defensive sub but it was a disasterous one. The issue was there was only Gibson on for defensive mid and even Cook seems to not want to use him anymore which begs the question why is he even on there - when you trying to see out the last 20 or 10 mins a def mid against Reading would've certainly been better than donkey Clarke who wont run or battle, but why do we have a def mid on the bench who we don't want to bring on when we need one yet MacDonald in the stand and new signing Benni Benigme sitting with him? It's madness.

Also Gary Roberts was on the bench - you know he will run round and chase everything and defend from the front he would've been a better option too. Even Windass chases everything down but lacks the battle. Clarke was the worst option imaginable when you need all hands on deck to see out the game.

We just haven't been using what we have properly. There are times for attacking and defensive subs and we seem to do them the wrong way round.

Qpr hadn't picked up a point until they played us and won
Knob end were struggling massively in the relegation zone under pressure and humiliated us 4 nil
Bolton hadn't scored at home in over two months and we obliged after a few minutes.
Ipswich hadnt won at home all season and we allowed them to put that right just before Christmas.
Reading hadn't won after falling behind in over 80 odd games but we contrived to put that one right as well.

Blackburn have lost 6 of the last 7 and have no fit centre halves. Doesn't take a genius to predict the result of this one.

We have developed into a team that is beaten before we kick off, yes they will try hard and could maybe go one ahead, but those 2 last away games has drained them of confidence.
I fear for our survival, we need a win badly, without it we will be standing on the trap door ready for the hang man to pull the lever.
Blackburn is not a happy hunting ground for us, i expect us to lose by a single goal.

Surely, Dragnet, the fact that they have managed to score three goals from open play away from home will lift the confidence, knowing they were beaten by some debatable refereeing in the last game should help to steel the resolve. Hopefully Cook will use that fact to boost their confidence and we will see a lively performance tonight.
