The new EU leader won 50.9 % of the vote, in an election where there was only one candidate !

Its leader is picked by all the countries national leaders including the uk leaders and then elected by the European Parliament who are politicians voted in by the public. So actually there are 3 rounds of votes in reality and you can influence that representation by voting in the EU lections etc. How many times in the last 20 years have you done that and trid to make changes etc?

In the Uk right now, there is prime minister that the public never voted for in any round of votes, and the previous leader of the country also got in without any vote. In fact when she faced votes she lost more than most politcians in history because the people actually voted against a hard brexit for example.

The first is clearly more democratic than the second

It clearly isn't. Even under our system Boris was at least voted in under our rules. The EU changed the method of appointing the leader AFTER the election (spitzenkandidat). German television held televised debates for the new EU leaders, Von Der Leyen didn't even participate. The MEP's got a choice of ONE candidate !

At some stage Boris will have to face an election. Van der Leyen never will.

Glad we are all talking about convoluted election rules. Certainly beats shitting yourself at the thought schools may close due to food shortages.

Thank goodness all this project fear nonsence is just made up and we are not losing money in the millions, jobs in the thousands and possibly the food off our plates.

...whats that, its not made up?

British farmers won't be able to export, so British grown food will be thrown away. Schools will close because they don't have any food. Think the remain papers need to decide which of the two will happen !

Obviously some offsetting could be done but the two aren't mutually exclusive.

The difference is the Van der Leyen is just a face behind the EU who holds no real power in terms of decision making.

Boris on the other hand is a buffon who holds power in terms of decision making

Unelected bureaucrat ruining our democracy.
His name is Cummings.

Boris is running the country. He will be the one who gets re-elected, or given the boot. Early days, but unlike TM he does seem more interested in investing in law and order, bit more money for the NHS etc. The BBC calls this electioneering. I guess electioneering means giving the population what they want, as you don't usually win votes by doing the opposite.

Presumably you would rather have Caroline Lucas as PM with her scheme of an all women cabinet ? Amazing how women want equality, unless they think they are superior to men, then everything changes . Sex discrimination and racial discrimination in one go takes some beating !

Clearly a mistake and there are several others when it comes to the wackier policies of her party.
But, in general, she's awesome.

Of course Boris is running the show son. You keep telling your self that.

Oh and don't be fooled, I understand that it may be difficult, but BoJo is making all these promises on the back of budget cuts. So the net investment will be negative. Then again I suppose he'll be able to dip into the 350m

What would be wrong with an all female cabinet? I'm sure that she'll show the UK constitution a lot more respect than Bojo seems to be doing.

Boris has been elected according to our constitution, and will have to do everything according to our constitution whatever happens. 80% of our MPs were elected on the promise they would carry out the referendum result, and they voted to implement article 50. Not his fault if they trying to go back on what they all told the electorate they would do.

Blah blah blah why are there rumours he's trying to porogue parliament?

If he prorogues parliament, surely that will be a part of our legal constitution, bearing in mind there are legal cases to try and stop it. A Parliamentary term normally lasts a year. This one has now been going on for three years. TM said over one hundred times that leaving with no deal was better than leaving with a bad deal, yet it's now clear she never even suggested we would leave with no deal. What sort of negotiating tactics are those? Anyone would think that if we leave with no deal, that's the end of things. Just gives us a negotiating position where we don't start off with shackles round our feet. Phillip Hammond was clearly trying to stop us leaving by not preparing for anything either.

Despite all the doom and gloom forecasts for even voting Leave, wages are now rising at their fastest level for eleven years, and employment is at a record high.

Again, considering that wages have stagnated for the majority of that time due to economic crash and not the EU as soon suggest your claim is a misleading because increases are still below inflation. Plus if wages are increasing at this fast level why have the number of food banks significantly increased are now used by those whose wages have "increased"?

It has been pointed out to you many a time that reals wages are have been declining since the 70s when measured against inflation. I suppose you were part of this study.

The employment figure have always been fiddled so there nothing much to see there. For example those who are on zero hour contracts, something that is banned in the EU and quite rightly so, are classed as employed even though they do not have a stable income. Oh and unemployment rate is starting to rise and will be joined by the 1000's once the car industry takes one for the Brexit team.

So zero hour contracts are banned in the EU, but we use them, despite the fact we are in the EU? Are you saying we are in breach of EU legislation?

Wages have not gone up for ten years, and foodbanks have increased. During this period we have been IN the EU. Wages have not gone up, and zero hours contracts are possible because employers have an unlimited supply of cheap EU labour. Why pay a poorly qualified UK worker a decent wage if you can get someone on the cheap from Eastern Europe? Similarly if you have a labour shortage you have to contract your workers, otherwise you risk that you have no one doing the job. Interesting that people blame the Leave vote for the lack of EU workers, yet the number of EU workers has actually increased over the last twelve months.

Wages are going up faster than inflation at the moment as well.

Wage growth in the UK rose to 3.9% in the year to June, the highest rate for 11 years, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The consumer price inflation rate in the United Kingdom rose to 2.1 percent year-on-year in July 2019
