Billy Whaite Joins Blackpool

Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of young forward Billy Whaite from Morecambe.
Whaite, 17, has signed a three-year professional deal and will initially join up with the Matthew Blinkhorn’s Under-18 squad.
The young striker has come through the ranks at Morecambe, excelling for Ollie Ras’ Under-18’s last season as a first-year scholar.
His form for the Shrimps academy side saw him get rewarded with a first-team appearance last April, coming on against Salford City in Sky Bet League Two. He has since impressed for the Shrimps first-team across pre-season, training with them all summer before his move to the Seasiders.
On joining Blackpool, Whaite said:
“To be able to play for the Club you support is a great feeling and I can't wait to get started.
"Me and my family are season ticket holders so hopefully I can work my way up and go from being in the stands to the pitch."
Academy Director, Ciaran Donnelly said:
“We are delighted to bring Billy to the Club. The Club’s recruitment team identified Billy as a target some time ago and have worked really hard to win the race to sign him ahead of a number of other clubs.
“He is a Blackpool lad and has been on our radar for a significant period of time. He’s a player we have admired, seeing him perform well against our Under-18’s team on a number of occasions and we are really confident he is going to have a big impact at the Club.
“He’s a humble and grounded lad but also has great focus on what he wants to achieve and we think we can really help him get there. Everyone at the Club and particularly the coaching staff are really looking forward to working with him."

Good bit of business with him being a Blackpool fan you’d hope he’d stay a little longer than apter if he breaks into the first team. Some big clubs in for him. Wonder if he was named after Billy Ayre? My son’s name is Charlie he’s 13 no prizes for guessing!

Edit to add saw Whaite in action the other week amo got others, at the Bamber Bridge defeat to what turns out was a slightly over aged knobber team.
Didn't do too much after coming on as a sub for Bondo.
Bondo BTW isn't going to make it at our level.
Couple of good performances. First half we had tbe best player on the park in a little right back - Lelililandel, think thats the correct spelling, and our 2 midfielders came to the fore second half - Knight and Butterworth.
We also had 2 CH who were really comfortable with the ball.
