If I were to form the best eleven I have seen in my life (no easy task), Mackay woulde be the first name on the team sheet (a very easy task).
Completely agree with Billy Nich about White, Greaves and Blanchflower, as well.
 
I took my accountancy training in the building next door to the ground. This was the old People’s Dispensary which frontage is now beautifully preserved on the 5th floor of the Wesr Stand in the new stadium.

Any way my boss went one night shortly after John White was killed, to a Rotary Club dinner and Billy Nick was guest speaker. Next morning my boss when chatting told us that the guts had been knocked out of our future planning when JW was killed as he was building the team for the future around him. He was a fabulous player.

What might have been but for the intervention of fate! Makes you think.
