Biggest Ever Breakup

Tudor

Vital Football Legend
Love affairs break up all the time but when a team like Manchester City, a club I've supported all of my life prepare to ditch around 13 players, all in one swoop then I suspect my affection for the club will be tested like never before.

I don't like change, never have, never will but I understand evolution is inevitable. And now we find ourselves on the cusp of witnessing one of the biggest breakups in living memory.

Players who have revolutionised MCFC since the Premier League was created have come and gone, but the current crop of first teamers, who have won league titles, FA Cup and League Cup medals have, in the main, grown old, too old some say to compete with the physical demands of day-to-day life as a top level professional footballer.

Guaranteed goodbyes

I can safely say the five players currently farmed out on loan, Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony, Eliaquim Managala and Jason Denayer will be picking up their respective MCFC P45s as soon as it is humanly possible. Having said that, if there was one player I could save, then without a blink of an eye my decision would be the one, the only Joe Hart. At the same time Pep should consider sending Claudio Bravo back where he found him. Sadly, my wish will not see the light of day.

Seven are out of contract this summer

Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Jesus Navas, Willy Caballero and highly-rated youngster Tosin Adarabioyo have yet to be offered new deals, and if I'm honest all seven of them need to be, if they haven't already be on the phone to their respective agents about sorting out possible deals elsewhere.

Except for Tosin, who I seen little, the rest have proved genuine servants. I love them all but they will be resigned to the City history books this summer. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Pep has a reputation of only wanting small squads to work with and so it's fair to say there will be others who will be joining the 'biggest ever breakup'. Vincent Kompany being one. His perpetual injuries have dogged our club captain all season, and so don't be surprised, even though his contract runs until 2019 to see him playing elsewhere next season.

I now feel as though I'm a doom-monger - sorry!

This scaremongering has been around for a few days now and is purely made up of those out of contract and loanees.

Out on loan - Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony, Eliaquim Managala and Jason Denayer are the main ones mentioned and are still contracted to City so why are these players mentioned because also out on loan

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jose Angel Tasende, Pablo Maffeo, Marlos Moreno, Patrick Roberts plus 13 players from the EDS most notables Enes Unal and Mooy

I do expect Joe Hart & co to be sold, I thought maybe like Toure that Hart could be brought back into the side, but I think Joe has now made that untenable.

Nasri has found his niche and if they can afford him, Mangala he has something but not consistant , Denayer only 15 starts from his loan and at the bottom club, you would think if he was to progress it would be there, Bony the only club that played to his style was Swansea, but wont be at City come the end of Summer.

Yaya's agent is such a nob-end saying that Yaya would go to Stretford, I am sure Maureeen is ready and waiting to give the big man a 5 year contract.

Tosin is only 19 and if he thinks that he will get a regular start at Everton then he is sadly mistaken or they will misuse him like City did with Micah Richards, I would love to see the Tosin out on loan at a higher level of football.

Mooy is the conundrum and I just don't know if it would be another year out on loan or brought into the fold to replace Nasri.

Unal and Zinchenko may never be seen in a competitive match at City.

Vinnie seems to have fallen out of favour and maybe sold but who would buy our arguably greatest ever Captain?

Navas never quite reached his hype, Sagna is off and I would retain Clichy and Zabaleta on a squad basis but I don't think Pep will, because players like Maffeo and Tansande are just not quite right but he will buy replacements

So the conclusion for me is that Hart, Nasri, Bony, Managala, Denayer, Sagna, Caballero, Kompany, Mooy, Zinchenko, Barker, Garcia.A. Clichy, Sagna, Zabaleta and Otamendi.

I would expect Toure to be offered a two year deal and Tosin Adarabioyo (loaned out) to stay.

Like to see Garcia and Tosin kept on, Kipling given another year and that's about it.

Be fantastic if Hart had a reprieve and VK4 had an injury free run until the end of the season.

Re Kompany - who will actually buy him?

The six out of contract (I believe Tosin has been offered a new contract) have all been great for the club, but all good things come to an end. A reasonable argument could be made for some of these players being responsible for our failures as much as our successes, so time to move on and look forward with great confidence towards a future packed with exciting football.....oh and the odd trophy :050:
