Tottenham are offering “huge money” to sign Bournemouth striker Josh King this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claim that Spurs have set their sights on the former Manchester United man as they aim to provide proven Premier League back-up to talisman Harry Kane.

The Telegraph report that Bournemouth are in a unique situation in their history of a Premier League rival willing to pay a vast sum for one of their young players.

It is said that the south coast club do not need to cash in on King, 25, after posting a pre-tax profit of £3.4million in their latest set of financial results following the vast windfalls that come with maintaining top-flight status.

Bournemouth have already signed three senior players this summer in Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake from Bournemouth and veteran striker Jermain Defoe on a free transfer.

But Spurs are ready to push hard for King even though he has a contract that runs until 2020 and it has been reported that Eddie Howe’s side value their star man in the £30million bracket.

Tottenham have paid that kind of fee only twice in their history, for attacking midfield duo Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela, but it is likely to take a comparable fee for them to land King.

The 28-times Norway international has been heavily linked with a move to north London this summer and it is thought that Pochettino is looking for a versatile attacker with both Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela currently injured.

King scored 16 goals in 36 Premier League matches last season as he demonstrated both his calibre and ability to play in various positions across the front line.

Lol. Perfect player for us until you put that price tag on him. He's a bit old though.

Between N'Koudou/N'Jie/Zaha/Joshua King it's clear that Poch wants to have this sort of player in our squad.

Bournemouth's problem is that Callum Wilson seems to be made of glass, otherwise he would have probably been touted by some bigger clubs. His goalscoring record is pretty decent. Hence why they've also signed Defoe.

It would be a huge risk of them to sell King, who has become their main goalscorer. If Bournemouth drop out of the Prem it will be very costly so I can see why they would put a £30m price tag on him. He also seems to be able to cover the wide areas and has a great work ethic in their setup.

My guess is that King's value to them will price him out of a move to us. We're looking for squad depth, but won't want to pay £30m.

Great as a backup striker, got good PL experience and can score goals (was in my FF team for most of last season), but 30mil is just silly!

...but then if someone offered me Saido for 28mil, I'd take King all day.

at 25, he fits Poch's ethos.

If we can get him for a reduced fee but better add ons, then it makes sense.

He'd suit us and he's a very good player. I sang his praises a lot last summer because he had a very solid debut PL season. This season he improved further.

Pace. Eye for goal. Strong. Can play wide of central.

£30m is starting to look like the standard fee for a player who is of decent quality now. Or in our case, Sissoko.

Josh King won't agree to be a back up striker whether or not any of you fancy him. He's finally established as a key player in a Premier League side. Moreover he's in a decent side playing good attacking football. He's not signing a contract that puts him on the bench - not a chance!

He plays out wide though... which won't make him back up to anyone.

We are seriously lacking in decent players to play in the wide attacking roles and the role behind Kane. If we sign someone and they hit the ground running they will play a lot of minutes. It depends how much King wants to make the step up.

I think the only thing that would stop him joining us is if we don't bid for him. He might not even be a target as we're just going on rumours.

Right or wrong, 30 mil isn't big money anymore. If he's a player we want...Pay the fee and get him in.

Us demanding £20m for Wimmer shows how crazy the money is at the moment. I rate Wimmer highly but that is £5-7m more than he should be worth considering he played so little last season.

I like the lad. He would give us some qualities we lack in the final third of the pitch. 20M with add ons is about right.

Problem is, Callum Wilson won't be fit again until late October. I doubt Bournemouth would risk letting King leave until January even though they have signed Defoe.

Laughing at the idea that Joshua King would turn down 60-100kpw (depending how good his agent is) and Champions League football with the 2nd best team in the league to fight for mid table slots with Bournemouth.

From what's being said; JD has a guaranteed 'if I'm fit, you play me clause' and that's why he signed for them....

So someone/something has to give.

JD's last attempt to get into the WC squad. Didn't Bournemouth sign that other ex-Goon striker not long ago too? They do seem to have a little collection of strikers with very similar qualities.
