In the face of adversity, clubs can either thrive or crumble and in recent years, the Tangerines have crumbled.
Now, under Gary Bowyer, they’re galvanised and looking likely to once again challenge for the top six in League One.
Two signings recently have been key, one a player remaining at the club after looking likely to leave, another a new face whom fans will have heard very little of.
Both have the quality to succeed in League One, both will be overshadowed by other club’s business.

As the Premier League becomes laden with money and transfers move beyond the realms of fantasy, there’s a certain settling further down the spectrum.
The Championship is the new top flight, with eight-figure sums not out of the ordinary.
That leaves League One, traditionally the place of ageing veterans and young wannabes, as a competitive league awash with big clubs and former English powerhouses.
There’s none bigger than Sunderland, they’re fighting with Charlton, Portsmouth and a host of other clubs to sign big name players.
Look at Peterborough too, they’ve done more business this summer than Lord Sugar does every year.
In amongst all the comings and goings are Gary Bowyer’s side, rather understated in their transfer dealings but looking increasingly like dark horse for the division.
Jay Spearing signed a new deal recently and that is the start of the good news at Bloomfield Road.
Spearing is no veteran, at 29 he still has lots of good football to play, but his experience will be vital as they plot a promotion push.
The former Liverpool midfielder might have let his career slide away to a degree, but he will be keen to ensure one last swan-song in the Championship.
Then there’s Jordan Thompson, a player who will be as familiar to most fans as the words to the national anthem of Burkina Faso.
He’s a 21-year old winger who was recently released by Rangers, but he oozes potential at League One level and will be looking to provide crosses and assists where he can.
He’s capped for Northern Ireland and is best described as technically able with quality on the ball.
He’s young, granted, perhaps a little raw but his acquisition shows a degree of sense in the market.
His arrival was understated, almost missed, but there’s every chance he could be a big star in the making.
They still need goals, last season only Kyle Vassell hit double figures and he’s just moved to Rotherham in the Championship.
Nathan Delfouneso hit nine, but he’s never been prolific, not to the extent a promotion chasing club needs.
Blackpool finished 11 points outside the top six, but just two wins away from eighth place.
This, after years of decline were finally halted in their League Two stint.
Now, with sensible recruitment and a sense of togetherness harness on the pitch, they might be about to spring a few surprises.
