Beer and football

I have noticed during the current world cup coverage that beer aka larger is shown to be drinking by spectactors.

Isn't this banned in the UK or is it special dispensation for the WC?

Only a question.

Banned in uk in stands for footy But not rugby union/ league or cricket or racing.

I think alcohol is banned at Fifa matches, but (and this could be fictious but I'm dragging this from the depths of late night tv watching in the 90's) anything less than 5% abv is not classed as alcohol in Russia

I believe you're right; might even be higher than 5% though.

Only a question.

Am I misunderstanding but how would UK rules apply in the World Cup

Likely to be non alcoholic beer, ie less than 0.5%. Potentially higher in Russia but that’s what it was in France 2 years ago
