Beckham-gate

The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)

The most damaging reports revolve around Beckham's reaction to not being given a knighthood in the 2013 Queen's Honours. He is alleged to have emailed his chief public relations adviser, Simon Oliveira, the following at not being made a Sir:

"They [are] a bunch of c**ts I expected nothing less...Who decides on the honours?? It’s a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would of got something like this 10 years ago."

Response:

He either said it, if so it's his opinion, just admit it.

If he didn't then one would assume legal action will ensue.

Doesn't deny, just says out of context. Bunch of c**ts would be hard to take out of context I'd think.

If he's doing all this because he loves what he is doing, that's great. If he thinks then that he should be rewarded before the process decides then what a shame as I genuinely thought he was one of the good guys!

Strange one this!

Still has seemed to work tirelessly for Unicef etc so people have gained. Shame if he's been driven by a knighthood and also, I think in time one would have been coming his way anyway. If these email things are true, he might have blown it.

Not a massive deal really. Still seems a nice family guy and a decent fella I think

His 'people' probably told him to expect a knighthood or similar, and maybe he bought into that?

Doesn't strike me as the type who'd give a shit, but you never know I suppose. These things mean a lot to some.

:81:

Seems very unlike Beckham.

His charity work with UNICEF was partly motivated by the hope of royal honours?

Seems all very out of character to me.

Whose leaked the emails and what is their motive I would say? It doesn't sound like Becks to me either

The cynic in me says he's done all the UNICEF stuff etc as it's good for the brand . That email seems to back that up.
The true heroes are those who go about charity work quietly and often anonymously.

Spot on. That's what's wrong with society today, we idolise the famous but not the person in the community that really makes a difference.

I do agree there are many unheralded heroes doing their stuff quietly and brilliantly.

People are saying 'it doesn't sound like Beckham'........... we don't actually know him, just what we get shown press and interview wise.

He always seems charming, a lovely family man etc though.

Not sure how these emails were 'leaked' but if true, sounds like hacking or a breaking of trust. Neither are nice and shouldn't be condoned unless for national security.

Lovely family man who shagged the au pair.

Don't know about that 1 however there was the Rebecca Loos situation that erupted in 2004. The PA when he was in Spain and Posh was still in The U.K. Did Posh alot of good in a cynical way. Her reputation was floundering however with her being pregnant with there child (Cruz?) women especially turned on Loos for the revelations whilst Victoria was pregnant

I think the honours system should be scrapped anyway. I mean Cameron awarded a OBE or something to his wifes hairdress FFS.

Totally ridiculous.

Oh that's who I meant thought Loos was a nanny / au pair .
Anyway point made.

I'm glad he's denied it. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy again that he's being set up, rather than being a bit of a twat.

I can't imagine Loos was the only one. A good looking, rich guy like him must have fanny thrown at him all day long.

When he gets home he has to look at Skeletor. :50:
