BBC bitters?

Skoorb

Alert Team
Probably not the best way to start my day but my blood which had been well and truly simmering last evening (see below) boiled over this morning when I visited the BBC Football page.....

The contrast in the reporting of the City and Rag matches is stark - the former is a downbeat affair leaning heavily on how lucky City were to walk away with a win whilst the latter is almost slippery to the touch with the drool from the writer who can barely contain his excitement. No matter that that they scored in the first half at home since September and this game was the first time since April 2015 that they scored twice in the first half.....

The rag report headlines with - Man U*d Hit scoring form against Stoke (aka They are great and going to win the league)

The City report - Aguero earns Man City win at Sunderland (aka City lucky to scrape a win only because of Aguero)

In the past the rags have lived on being able to dig out results from difficult fixtures and were praised for their resilience. Not the impression you get from the report on City's trip to the North East. We remain 3 points 'adrift' of Leicester apparently whilst the rags result 'leaves them in fifth place, five points behind fourth placed Arsenal'. They don't appear to be ten points adrift of Leicester at all.....

The praise being heaped upon Martial is noteworthy for the fact that the reporter effectively refers to the size of his fee (£36,5m) being "money well spent". The mental gymnastics displayed in this could be straight from the pages of George Orwell's 1984 and DoubleThink - the people who are the among the first to claim City's dealing in the transfer market inflate prices and are a 'blight' on the game seem here to be regarding the money splashed out by U*d almost as a virtue.

But above all this post has been triggered by last evening's viewing of the BBC Sport Football page which I visited to track the other PL scores.....

Low and behold if every single PL fixture had a direct link to the rolling commentary/updates from each game except for one.......no prizes for guessing that the Sunderland v City game was granted no such privilege. One was provided but you had to search for it. It was inexplicable - every fixture EXCEPT the one featuring the team that was second in the league? Why on earth would there NOT be room to place such a direct link on their football front page? Unbelievable.

Seeing the style of coverage this morning has only reinforced my increasing view that there are so many rags embedded within the BBC at Salford that they could not restrain themselves from using their position to react to the deep bitterness that Monday's announcement will have generated. Like many of the people posting comments on McNulty's article on their page ('Are Man City now the biggest club in Manchester') they seem to be reacting like a 13 year old who has been rejected at the school disco by the girl he has fancied for ages. Last seen slinking out muttering "I never fancied her anyway, she's not that good looking' but knowing that his self esteem has suffered a mighty blow.

The BBC have been hacking me off for ages but this just seemed to tip me over the edge last evening :bang:

No mention of the fact that Stoke have gone well and truly off the boil of late either.

Ho Hum, the bbc can stick it up their b...

Sky are ignoring us too and creaming themselves overcthe rags but with them its more to do with getting rag clicks than any particular bias, I think.

I think the title will be between us and Spurs, with the Rags and Arse fighting over P4. At seasons end Scoorb you should be able to have a quite smile about the Rags finishing 5th. Then the BBC and Sky can please themselves.

I am not going into that conspiracy theory of they are all out to get us (even if I think they are)

I did consider that the Rags report was written by a rag supporter who would no doubt over embellish this average Premier team against a Sunderland reporter who would say that City got away with it, even though Sunderland should have only finished the game with 9 men but ended up with less men booked than City as once again the referee ignores anything against City as normal and legal.

I also thought Greg Dyke former chairman of the BBC rag supporter, is the new Chairman also a rag and is there a memo floating about as to the contents of reports, well you just don't know.

I watched the highlights on Sky and noted an instance where the commentator said after City knock the ball out of play and ITS A THROW IN TO SUNDERLAND, I had to replay it to make sure I wasn't being P again, nope he definately raised his voice for a Sunderland thrown in. wow :rolly: :rolly: :rolly: :rolly:

I don't think there's any conspiracy.

What there is is a generation of journalists and sports reporters who have grown up with one of Liverpool or Rags/Tarquins being the dominant forces in football, and many of them are fans of these teams themselves.

It's only natural that they should feel somewhat aggrieved and threatened by the rise of City and the fact is, our success has caught them with their pants down.

That, combined with a herd mentality (We are ruining football after all) leads them either consciously or unconsciously to have a negative attitude towards us.

I believe this is also true of most referees. They are simply following the crowd, and one day, a generation of journalists will enter the profession having known nothing but Manchester City dominance. Hopefully we'll then get the credit and recognition we all want and deserve!

The aforementioned hacks like the Guardian's Stretford fanzine writers have been trying to boost rag morale every time they win a game.
Their obsession at battling the crisis has led to ourselves staying relatively under the radar.

Although it is selective. The fact the rags will close a stand for Midgetland in the Europa is hardly getting a mention...
