Band Aid - Adele

The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Great article as pointed out by deanovilla on facebook but he didn't deem you lot worthy (he hates you all I'm afraid!)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/ebola/11236278/Why-Adele-was-right-to-ignore-Bob-Geldof-and-Band-Aid.html

Later, we learnt that Adele had quietly made a private donation to Oxfam. But in the shallow, self-promoting world of celebrity, the simple and silent act of handing over money to charity is not the done thing – that’s what we impoverished plebs do.

Instead, the rich and famous donate their precious time, and for this they expect to be celebrated and congratulated, as if before they flashed their expensively whitened teeth in the video for a song

I do like the point about tax avoidance. How on earth can these people dodge taxes then tell us all we need to give our money wherever they dictate?

Pay your fair share and then you can preach surely?

Then there was another article, which allegedly says that Bob says 'he doesn't have Adele no' What is the truth?. My truth is I already donate by monthly direct debit to, three charities. That's my bit. I won't be bullied into buying a record/download/CD or whatever they call them these days, cos a man with a Sir before his name says I have too. I would buy it cos I want too.

I am not saying what they are doing, is wrong. I just don't like the idea of people trying to force me too. The cynics said back in 1984 that Bob was doing it to regenerate a flagging career. Maybe that's the same for some of them now. The last gasp saloon. The chance for another pay day off the back of Band Aid 30. Who knows!

Yeah, agreed. It's just like Children In Need. Don't get me wrong, they do deserve all they get, but as JF say, the rich and famous come on our screens, giving some of their time to tell us to dig deep and give what we can to this worthy cause.

Instead of giving their time, why don't they come on and say I've donated X amount. Time is a worthy asset, but some of their cash would do equally nicely......

To play devil's advocate. Maybe they do donate money too. They just don't announce it. Now that can be humility if you wish.

The other side is, they announce it and they get told, there looking for praise and so on.

In today's Celebrity mad addiction world nothing surprises me seeing people desperate to put there faces to real tradgic causes that need our help and deserve help just to get there face in mag's and sell more records, there is some real good ones though out there just not enough decent celeb's

I am sure there are some who appear on this record who are genuine a , but equally there may be others who see appearing on this as a career move and couldn't care less about Ebola.

Firstly, Adele SHOULD NOT be made to feel bad and bribed to perform, it's her life, and etc.

Secondly I'm sick of being told what to do by Bob fucking swears a lot to look cool Geldof, grow up mate and have an adult debate about your criticism.

Lastly, do they know it's Christmas? Of course they bloody (will) do, they're not thick people and this song is as dated as BCFC's badge, terribly patronising lyrics (sung by ridiculously wealthy, mostly talent-less musicians) that were relevant to a famine that happened 30 years ago, not a modern humanitarian ebola crisis.

like the article says, over 500m over there are Christians, so of course they know!

I say good on her, I don't particularly like her in any way, but all the bands in that collaberation are f****** dire soul less self important dross. She's got guts to turn Bob down, and I don't like him either, same as Bono, they just scream tw*t.

Great interview with Damon Albarn on this subject:

Nice to see an artist who realises the subject requires a little more than "send us yer fookin money".

And I bet they are more bloody excited about it than a certain Mr Fear!!!

We have a guaranteed GDP Foreign Aid budget - whether you agree with that or disagree - you have no choice but to contribute.

I choose not to buy crap like this.

Face has posted pretty much the rest of my thought on 'Bob' and with the mention of Bono I'm just reminded of clicking your fingers.

And there is snow in Africa as well.

Good job they changed the words then, of the original, as I am sure there was a line that said 'and there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas' :15:

....................................................

They should know yes JF, that's why they are expecting gold frankincense and myrrh from The U.K :17:

Oh bless them! They are my fave animal, though I don't have too many thoughts about cuddling up with them, as I want my body to be in 1 piece for Christmas.

Edit cos where did your picture go JF?. It disappeared, perhaps with the snow
