Departed

So my 13 yr old son and I were driving through the back woods of central Ontario last week and we had a decent radio station on when suddenly we lost it and it switched to a country and western station. And here is the first set of lyrics we heard........

-----------------------------------------------------
Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey
Whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky
------------------------------------------------------

I bet you can't beat that for absolute shit. We have been singing it ever since.

I'd say Nickleback would give anyone a run for their money! :17:

Probably from the same genetic pool.

Who is that, 80?

I stumbled across this Miley Cyrus beauty when flicking through the music channels the other week...

"All the way in the back with a tree on my lap
All the boys like to ask me 'what you doing with that?' "

Miley is the gift that keeps on giving...

"To my home girls here with the big butt
Shaking it like we at a strip club"

You are off the hook SG a young lady who is a C&W fan (but has brains) just told me this guy is really hot?

You can add him to your list along with all those curling dudes.

The worst one that always sticks in my mind is " I'm as serious as cancer when I say rhythm is a dancer".

"Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow."

No they don't. I don't.

Haha. I am partial to a bit of country music, I'm not ashamed to admit.

The Killers line:

"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier"

Bill Bailey takes the piss quite suitably

How could I forget?

"And I was like baby, baby, baby, oooooooooo. Like baby, baby, baby, oooooooooooo. Like baby, baby, baby, oooooooooooo."

You're Canadian, 80. I blame you by default for that one.

Nah, I'm not having that, Barns. This is lyrically genius...

"Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!

Who are we? What we run? The world (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What we run? The world (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What do we run? We run the world! (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What we run? We run the world
Who run the world? Girls!"

He is an alien. We are a big country. Things tend to hit us more frequently. And I blame Monsanto for Nickleback.

I stand corrected.

The worst one that always sticks in my mind is " I'm as serious as cancer when I say rhythm is a dancer".

SNAP!

not the best lyric but from one of the bands I marketed to number 1 so back off! The fat idiot airforce brat 'rapper' tried to have a pop at me verbally but came off second best. :2:

she loves you yeah yeah is pretty crap

so's I wanna hold your hand

(bit of controversy there)

Whereas these lyrics are possibly the best ever written:

As I walk this land of broken dreams
I have visions of many things
But happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion

What becomes of the brokenhearted
Who has love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind, baby

The roots of love grow all around
But for me they come tumbling down
Every day heartaches grow a little stronger
I can't stand things pain much longer

I walk in shadows searching for light
Cold and alone, no comfort in sight
Hopin' and praying for someone who'll care
Always moving and going nowhere

What becomes of the brokenhearted
Who has love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind, help me, please

I'm searching though I don't succeed
But someone look, there's a growing need
All is lost, there's no place for beginning
All that's left is an unhappy ending

Now what becomes of the brokenhearted
Who has love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
I'll be searching everywhere
Just to find someone to care
I'll be looking every day
I know I'm gonna find a way
Nothing's gonna stop me now
I'll find a way somehow

Just been horrified to discover the execrable Westlife have done a version of it which is sacrilegious
