I remember him from the days when our crowds were so low that you sort of knew everybody even though you didn't know them, as daft as that sounds. Out of season, especially, if you recognised a fellow tic you'd just acknowledge each other with a knowing nod and a quick hello. I don't think I ever had a proper conversation with him but still felt like I knew him,
