The Fear
A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
At last, I’m back in training.
Not that many of you would know I’d not been in training, I don’t like talking in the negative so I wait for the fightback to comment! This is fightback 300228 I think.
If you recall, I did the man thing of the 22 press up challenge. Most did 22 press ups in 22 days. I did 22 press ups, 22 times, in the one day. I knew I was going in for an operation a few days later.
No one knew, literally no one, not even close friends or family. My parents thought I was at a business meeting and social gathering in Stockport. Didn’t see the point in worrying them or anyone else really! Was funny in hospital when they asked why I was having no visitors. I told them I’d got no friends, they then felt sorry for me so I had to tell them I was only joking! The original plan was to be discharged on the Saturday and get down for the Villa game. That proved not possible (insane) but I did get there the following Tuesday night. I was spaced out of my head at the Football Consultation meeting with some fellow fans and the CEO/Owner of Villa. Not the most comfortable night at Villa I must admit.
Sliced and diced and scar extended. Since then it has been a fairly long road back, ribs and upper abs just take time to heal. I’ve also had three prp injections in the operating theatre and then had 4 weeks worth of a kidney infection. I also had my chest tattoo finished and have had Fear Conquers All (the tagline to my Men’s Health article) tattooed on my hand. It was what I promised I’d do once I’d got up Ben Nevis and raised the £5000 target (done this week). I know, I know, not everyone's taste but my life is about extremes and when I’m at my worst these things remind me of what I do in life to fight the brain aches and other such rubbish.
But still, now back in the gym. I’m not 100%, I never am BUT god it was good to be back in there. This is going to be one hell of a good winter / spring of training. Intend to get beyond the best shape of my life. Hopefully I can be back into the boxing by the New Year at the latest.
Oh and at my worst a month back I put myself and three mates in for the first Birmingham Marathon next October. I’ll have to walk it obviously but it’s something to aim towards.
The moral of the story? Get up – get out – LIVE
Peace out!
