Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest match thread sponsored by Kali

If @Geedo61 wants to call me an attention seeking prick again for saying we’re in a relegation battle, now seems like a good time for that too.
I thought you had me on ignore - you attention seeker.
No way are we going down - just because it suits your narrative.
We have had a dodgy spell agreed - but we have too much quality - even if the manager doesn’t know how to get the best out of it.

Yeah - you got it wrong you bellend. You laid into me for pointing out, correctly, that we were in a relegation battle, and now you don't have the stones to admit you were talking bollocks. End of.

That's a little strong fella.
I don't think we are in a relegation battle - we have 50% more points than the team below us with less than half a season to play having already played them twice
That is factual - not bollocks - End of

We are objectively in a relegation battle having spent the whole season in or just above the bottom 3.

You can have all the confidence in the world that we won't ultimately go down but right now we are in danger of it and are in a relegation battle.

At first glance you are correct - the statistics tell a different story
Since Dyche came in we have 16 points from 13 games - even with the 4 losses on the spin. Averaging 1.25 points per game
West Ham are averaging 0.66 points per game and that ratio has deteriorated under Nuno.
You are right - I am confident - but that confidence is based on facts and statistics

Statistically we were nailed on for the champions league last season and managed to blow it.

Football is psychological and this team is on the decline. Stats from his first few games are masking the current reality of how how much trouble we’re in

It's not the first few, is it? It's the first 9 or so. You are basing things on the last 5, skilfully ignoring one or two of those as well

I think that's a really twisted way to see it.
We've had ups and downs under Dyche.
If we continue to do so we'll be fine.
There's no need to try and make the better moments invalid just to accentuate the shit ones.

Okay Pope, we’re not in any trouble - things are rosy. The teams playing really well and we’re unfortunate to be losing 6 of our last 7 games. The players that Dyche hasn’t called shite look happy and really willing to get this team up the table

Im not invalidating anything - he got two great wins against an out of sorts Liverpool and spurs and he deserves credit for that, but since end of November, I’ve generally seen very little that makes me think this isn’t it in terms of performances.

Of course we are in trouble. I warned we could be in trouble in the summer, remember? I got a lot of shit for that.

I got a lot of shit when I still warned we were in a relegation battle after beating Liverpool and Leeds.

You are looking in the wrong place if you think I'm blind to the situation.

16 points from 13 is a good return though - it's a 47 point season.

I accept that, based on previous history, a 40-47 point season might be all we ever get from Dyche, but I'd snatch you hand off for that right now.

What people forget was how bad a situation we were in when he took over.

5 points from 9 games is behind where we were at the same point in 2022-23 and 23-24. It is miles off. I think we were 5 points from safety when he started, now we are 7 clear. That's progress

No, we haven't shrugged the threat of relegation off like Fulham have or like Palace did last year, and that's disappointing.

But that's where the bits or luck come in.

If Forest get that penalty at Craven Cottage instead of Fulham, we win that game- and who knows, maybe we are the ones to be on form at Christmas and Marco Silva is under pressure. Who knows?

It was 5pts from 8 games when he took over - we were 2 points adrift of 17th

The league has a slightly different complexion this year to last.

Palace did not hit any kind of form until November and then went on a decent run after Christmas.

21 points at this stage of last season would have seen us a few places higher, given the poor nature of the bottom three.

There is plenty of hope yet; we have a steady run of games after Arsenal, where we need to pick up points

Nuno has saved teams from relegation before . West Ham would be stupid to get rid. Not exactly any other stunning candidates to choose from.

It’s not over by a long shot but we are in a with a very good shout of survival

Nuno just barely kept us up with 5 wins

They all want Bilic
