Aston Villa v Middlesbrough, Tuesday 12thSept. 7:45pm kick off

Holteenders - 11/9/2017 10:17

Wtf has happened to the good old days...dalian,deano...teale mcgrath..tony daley, ian taylor..i look bk and remember we would tear teams apart with counter attacking free flowing football..such a shame!..i take my kids to todays games thinking one day it will all come back and get that holte end rocking again...its not gna happen is it!

Welcome on board and I guess we have to keep the hope but if there is light at the end of the tunnel, it does seem a very long tunnel.

Davies has been carrying a hip injury for a few weeks apparently.

If he needs taking out for a bit to recover I think he should be. Very unfair to expect him to play injured when he's trying to make a name for himself.

Well injury is a different matter but a few weeks would suggest he had it when we played Norwich and it didn't bother him too much then.

Seems a convenient reason not to play him tomorrow.

If we play Hogan up front on his own then Davies on one leg would be better not that I'm doubting his ability just that he is definitely not a target man.

Just cannot see us scoring, and always look like conceding.

It's not the formation or the players really, it's just that they don't seem to know what to do and how to play together, and the coaching staff haven't managed to affect this in what, 12 months?

Don't worry though Codger will come off the bench and score to get us a draw and keep Bruce hanging on by the barest of threads.

Think if we lose this Bruce will start to feel the heat do not think the Doc will pull the trigger till we are 10 games in unless the wheels come off big style.

It'll be interesting to see the line-up for this game and then for the game against them in the cup. Bruce seems happy to play the youngsters in the cup.... so if they do better against the same opposition as the senior players do tomorrow... well then keep playing the kids! They haven't had the skill and determination fully coached out of them yet.

'I'm surprised he never jumped ship , I guess nobody wanted him'

He wanted out but they refused to let him go
He's 'in form'apparently

"No end product? Boro’s fast-forward flanker finally delivered and left the sceptics choking on last year’s accusing mantra.

Traore showed pace and power to carve through Bolton’s bewildered back-line, shrugged off some heavy attention and surged into the dangerzone to claim two assists and all the acclaim.

He wriggled to the by-line and put in an inch perfect inviting cross for Assombalonga’s opener then burst into the box and squared for the striker’s second but he also showed a growing awareness of the team shape and discipline.

He will have won over critics and bumped up his price-tag with a watershed performance."

Vertout scored a cracking free kick at the weekend too

Now pairing Davis and Hogan together would be interesting.

I'd pair Davis with Koj as Koj is no target man either , he couldn't hold up a bank with a bazooka , but he'd feed off Davis

Hardly winning the critics over by getting relegated and then suddenly playing well against mediocre championship sides.

No doubt one day he could become an excellent player but it will take a lot of effort and resources by whatever club he ends up at to get him to that level

This is set up for Traore to provide Gestede with a hattrick of chances and for him to score them all, after terrorizing our defence.
