Aston Villa v Man City League Cup Final March 1st

This will forever be called The Grealish Final and the solo winner where he rounds Fernandinho twice just for the craic before chipping the keeper will be shown in reverence each week before every football match in the country.
Don't know what you're on Platypus but can l have some.?

Hey a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment BUT in 1994 we was expecting to get battered by another Manchester club.we all know how that one turned out so chins up its another Goliath moment waiting to happen.the villa always have a surprise in-store the underdogs rise to the top someway somehow UTV:utv::utv::utv:
And we were being tipped for a hammering by Bayern Munich in May 1982 and we still sing about that outcome now - Allez, Allez, Allez!!

Win or lose on the pitch will be down to skill or luck, but the battle of the terraces will have only winner. "Everywhere we go, it's Villa boys making all the noise"
I was not old enough for my parents to let me go to the 1971 LC final against Spurs. We were a 3rd Division club up against the like of Chivers, Peters, Mullery, Gilzean, Perryman and Jennings. We lost but the noise from the Villa fans was immense. We had a 33rpm vinyl record of the commentary of the final (honestly!) and at times you couldn't hear the commentator for the "Villa, Villa, Villa" being belted out.
I was there for the 1974 final against Norwich the noise was painful at times and the "we want Saunders" at the end was deafening.
1977 at Wembley the atmosphere was dire but Hillsborough and Old Trafford were very loud.
I couldn't go to the 1994 final but was there for 1996 and it was impossible to hear anything from the Leeds fans as we drowned them out for 90 minutes.
I cannot wait for Sunday and will be cheering, singing and shouting whatever the result. We will be the 12th man and do more than our share. We just need those on the pitch to show the same passion and enthusiasm and "fight like lions".
Finally, I have never been in attendance at a final and seen Villa lose.

Never gonna happen but not a formation City would be prepared for.

Pros:
Possibly more stable at the back, Mings and Engels to sit back.
We'd have Hourihans dangerous free kicks at our disposal.
Option of the long ball up Davis to hold up for Samatta.
Free Role for Grealish to see where he can best dictate the game.
On paper looks to me like a team that could counter quickly and effectivly.

Cons:
Hourihan hasn't a great record against the bigger teams.
Davis just back from injury. Unlikely he'd risked (Maybe Baston?)
Can see El Ghazi and Davis pitching a fit if they're not involved and Nyland can consider himself hard done by not to be in there.
I know f**k all about anything

----------------Nyland-------------------
Elmo - Konsa - Mings - Hause - Targett
--------Luiz - Nakamba - Drinkwater---
----------------Grealish------------------
----------------Samatta------------------

Pros:
More compact through the middle
Elmo more experience
No Engels walking through treacle
No wingers doing nowt when we don't have the ball
El Ghazi won't get an owee

Cons:
Grealish and Samatta having to provide width from the front
No McGinn
I can't take over Dean's job full-time

The biggest con , would be us getting thrown out of the tournament if we played Drinkwater !!!!!

I think that could well be the team but in a 4-4-2 and with Nyland in goal. Samatta and Davis both work hard and City like to.build from the back so it could cause real problems if we press high.
