Aston Villa v Leicester City Match Thread - Sun 21 Feb @ 2.05pm - Sky

Going into the match there seems to be 3 schools of thought on here. One, nothing much has changed, this month’s results are very much like last month’s. Two, we’ve got sussed out. Jack seemed to have the freedom to do what he wanted in earlier matches now the flow has stopped. Three, a loss of form with a few players well below earlier standards. All three views have their merits but Dean is right concentrating on the last performance and the next, they are the only two that matter. He’s forced into playing Elmo - will that encourage him to play Trez in this one?

Whatever Dean does we need to come back to earth and start stopping Leicester from playing first and foremost, I think w are getting a bit ahead of ourselves again, when your keeper is your, star man, you aren't defending as you should be. We should be getting clean sheets with Emi doing very little then we are defending properly, do that and the goals will come at the other end.
Carry on like we are, we will get a pasting soon, the odd game like Man City away yes it's the Alamo but Brighton and Southampton away no, just no, we should be defending far more comfortably, not this last-ditch stuff. We are not Burnley

I dont really agree with people on that one. I think most opposition scouts realised last season that everything went through Jack. Doubling up on him is nothing new and teams were doing so at the start of this season.
Barkleys dramatic dip in form is certainly not helping as he no longer forces much attention from defenders on him, leaving them to focus on Jack.
Brighton and West Ham both seemed to be outnumbering us all across the pitch. There was always an extra man for them to pass to, they pressed us early and forced us into hitting long balls

Tough game, I’d take a draw now. They are a really decent side and can take anyone apart on their day, I guess we can too but feels like more has to go right for us to do that whereas Leicester are a lot more consistent - they’re in the top 4 for a reason.

The big positive for us is that they’re coming off the back of an away European trip in midweek which might give us a slight edge if we play well and not like that lethargic performance in the last game

Such a positive is not really a positive for Villa, because that is usually when we disappoint. We rarely capitalize on such positives which gives us the edge.

Big rumours circulating around Jack. Clearly if he was out we wouldn't reveal it until 13:05 on Sunday. We coped well v Liverpool last season without him, but opens the door for others to impress.

we have become too easy to play against .teams have learned that if the double up on grealish and keep him quiet we have to resort to long ball hoofing dean needs to box cleaver with grealish maybe play him center mid and let him do what he wants that way he would be harder to mark because players wont know who is ment to be picking him up play watkins .el ghazi .and trez or treora in attack and try 3 at the back

Well, if literally everyone has a shit game like last outing double marking Jack will be the easiest decision on Earth.

Hope everyone is sharp and well-rested and we stand a chance against anyone. We're not difficult to "figure out" but the question is are we up to carrying out the plan.
