Oh Jesus Christ, the useless tool can't even pass a medical. How come we spend fortunes on so many players who turn sh*t instantly and can't get shot of?

I was going to add a comment in his transfer thread that he will only leave subject to a medical with emphasis given to his previous knee injury but I dismissed it after considering how many games he played last season.

This is desperate news for our transfer budget when the books have to be balanced for the fair play financial rules.

If he plays again for us at full-back the same thing will happen all over again where teams will target him because he is so inept at defending.

Double whammy

a) We are stuck with a liability (but now we probably know the reason why)

b) Presumably, we were weaiting on that money to secure other deals for FFP so it now impacts there as well.

Bugger !

I can't really see Amavi playing fullback for us again, mind you I never did see him as a fullback, more of a wingback if not played as a wide midfielder, his real position.
With Taylor at left back and Amavi in front of him, we could end up with a really strong lefthand side in the team.

To be honest 1958 he wasn't that impressive when played in midfield last season either. I would play Green on the left all day long .

Agree with that, he demonstrated all the crossing ability of Alan Hutton :10:

Thought he was poor defending and abysmal going forward (final ball not good 90% of the time). Apart from that, he's quite an asset. :3:

Wouldn't write him off. After 9 months out then it's not easy for players to bounce back, particularly with cruciate injuries. Thought when he first came to us his crossing was quite decent. Having said that, a move was probably the best for us and him.

Bruce on de Laet may be relevant: "In my opinion with a cruciate injury it takes as long to get back to speed as the time being out". Which figures (also means he's not expecting too much from de Laet this season).

Wonder what other cover we have for Taylor? Any youngsters? Lyden seems to be fairly versatile. Could Tshibola do a job there? Bacuna has played there.

I would imagine he'll end up going somewhere on loan where they have an option to send him back if there's any issue with the knee.

Amavi was a winger/wide midfielder until the season before he came to us, when he was converted to a fullback because of team injuries.
That's three seasons he's been out of his natural position and that is bound to affect his ability in certain area's.
Given time to get used to his old position again, I am confident his crossing ability will return.

As for cover for Taylor, both Hutton and DeLaet have successfully filled the position in the past.

Maybe after reading the comments on here Sevilla have realised just how bad he is.

That would be hilarious. I'm imagining someone bursting into the boardroom in Seville and gesturing wildly at an iPad while speaking Spanish at 90 mph and every so often saying Vital Veeeeah.

Disagree . Surely a player should be able to cross a ball reasonably well irrespective of if he is playing full back or midfield. He should also have flourished if midfield is his natural position , I don't buy the theory that he should have to get used to playing there again.

While I don't think he's lived up to the hype, I still think he's better than, and has more potential for improvement than Neil Taylor.

I'd personally keep him and give him a run of games in a 3-5-2, but it seems Bruce's mind is made up.

Playing fullback and midfield are completely different sirdennis, each calling for a different set of skills.
Contrary to popular belief, skills have to be worked on, practised, it is and, never has been, enough to be able to kick a ball, to become a professional footballer.
The biggest problem when a player changes position, is in his mind-set.

JA's medical report was good. Someone hi-level didn't agree with the transfer&found a reason of injury history which is really unfair to JA.

Could be a move by Sevilla to get the price down.
They are famous for doing such things, that's why no-one likes doing business with them.

I think you make it sound more complicated than it really is 1958 , after all they do train day in day out.

We have to agree to disagree.
