Aston Villa match

Morsy has a hamstring injury hasn’t he?

Cook said he's ok. Gibson also fit (gutted) and Jacobs will be involved but by sounds of it may not start.

On side not Jacobs tore his hamstring against Stoke but kept playing but he said it was the Preston game that it really went.

We need some pace in midfield because Morsy, Evans and Gibson would struggle to beat a snail. That’s why Jacobs is needed back ASAP.

Jones, James, Dunkley, Kipre, Naismith, Morsy (Capt), Evans, Pilkington, Windass, Roberts, Garner

Subs: Walton, Byrne, Vaughan, Grigg, McManaman, Jacobs, Connolly

I can only assume Pilkington starts on the right.

I don’t like the look of this XI, but I’ve been wrong before - sometimes several times in a matter of minutes - just has the look of more uninspiring defensive long ball.

I suspect Pilkington will be on the left, Windass right and Roberts central. Though I also suspect it won’t matter as none of them will get many quality balls played to their feet.

How long before we're calling for Walton to return?! To be fair right call whether jones has a mare or not the lad needs a rest.

However garner over Grigg and windarse over mcmanaman? Naismith at full back again. 12th Jan and still no replacement signed. Wtf have our administrators been doing?

Great win. Cooky must have been listening to all the calls of positivity. More forward balls, more passing and moving and less long balls. Also upped the tempo. Well done lads.
Why the dross for the last few months?

Normal service resumed.

Well done to Naismith, just one blip in a solid performance,Windarse missed two sitters which for once didn't matter.
Reece James his usual classy self, and the lad Pilks looks a player.
All the lads did well, now keep it up .

What a breath of fresh air, like going back to the beginning of the season, we harried, we played it on the deck, we fought to get the ball back when not in possession, we kept it tight & didn't go defensive when up 1 nil. Oh n as PC said in his press conference " it has to stop raining at some point" - it has & it actually stopped raining during the match anol. Great win & hopefully a big boost for the next 2 big away games to come.

Excellent display today - back to playing football. It’s amazing what can happen when you actually have a proper go at teams.

Pilkington had a fantastic debut, Crackers looked sharp and the defence was solid (excluding the one moment of communication issues between Kipre and Jones). I am delighted to be wrong about the set-up today and hopefully we can replicate that to finally get some momentum in the next two away fixtures.

Naismith still suspect to me but Villa failed to exploit it in any way. Still need a specialist left back in.

Prefer Grigg up front but Garner battles hard.

Generally most players were very good today and the tactics were bang on.

Why didn't he play mcmanaman?! Bloody rubbish. Looks like we might not need plan A after all.

On a more serious note we can talk all we want about tactics and selections and formation and be all so clever after the event but the difference today was we scored in the first half when we were on top. Against Sheffield United, Derby, Birmingham etc we were on top for first 30 mins and missed at least one golden chance in all those games to go 1-0 up. Today we bagged one of those chances, the confidence came back and we went on to win.

Fine margins and all that UTFT

Perfect team selection today from Cook, despite the alarm on here when it was announced it showed he really does know more about the quality of his players than we do!
