π€π‘π“πˆπ‚π‹π„: City Secure Tottenham Hotspur Youngster On Loan - HAVE A READ!

A big sale by the LOI so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on because LOI players generally come over at L1/L2, so to jump into the PL system and his first loan move being in the Championship is quite show of faith (and hopefully ability).

Hopefully he can bring to the Imps what Mikey Moore from Tottenham brought when he was out on loan last season at Rangers (at a similar age). He was that good they wanted him back but he will probably end up at Cologne. Melia is not the finished article, as you would expect but I think he will be a good watch.

Well Melia seems like a decent start on the attacking options, still plenty of work needed out wide and up top along with some midfield strengthening hopefully.

Defensive midfield I'm fairly happy with Varfolomeev and McGrandles, but we need a bit more depth and maybe experience there, and there's a lot to do in the more attacking midfield positions. That's the biggest concern for me with Moylan gone.

Agreed that we need some more creativity so that the strikers have enough ammunition to score us goals, likely to get less chances in the Championship. Hopefully at least another 2 or 3 attackers/wingers to come in too.

I assume from what's been inferred, we're not interested in offering Matt Smith a contract? May not ultimately be 1st choice 8 or 10 but can play the roles?

Not a coach or in charge of the purse strings but Matt Smith looked that extra bit of quality in the couple of games I was watching. He has a good eye for a pass and also decent set piece delivery. Really don’t know what’s not to like, but guess it’s also down to wages, but is available on a free having left Wigan.

If he is fully fit, then Matt Smith would be an excellent pick up on a free. I think he would compliment McGrandles work and free up Ivan to get further forward. Looks like we won't be going for that option though, which is a shame.

He was so good the Zombies finished third in a two horse race.

Given the talk about using the Derby game as a last pre-season game, but with a bit more serious intent, it might be worth playing Mason from KO to see what he brings. We have nothing to lose in terms of the league and it would be a good introduction for him. Depending on his impact we could then keep him on the bench and gradually introduce him for League games to integrate him, especially with a higher number of substitutes. Just speculating πŸ€”

So we were in Tottenhams ear about getting Melia on loan for the future as early as January!?

That's all lifted from Jez's comments on the OS regarding MeliΓ‘'s signing, lazy Reach journalism.

When Jez, Liam and the recruitment team identify a target, they work bloody hard and very professionally to get them. Doesn't always come off but I'll wager their success rate is pretty good.

I suspect we have signed him as a Championship starter - by all accounts, this lad is a real prodigy.

Almost certainly, but an 18 year old leading the line for a championship side for 46 games is a big responsibility, and he'll need some added support.

Saw him play a few times, including once live.
A bit of a shining light when played correctly after Martin left in a poor, poor Rangers Team. Not the finished article but there is a excellent player there for sure. Hoping Melia can do something similar for the Imps.
