Arsenal v Aston Villa Match Thread 08/11/2020 19:15

The main problem with VAR is that it’s operated in a way in which the primary focus is on disallowing goals, when that was never its original purpose nor is it what anyone wanted or asked for. Clear and obvious was the mantra at the time, which unfortunately went out of the window pretty much straight away as soon as possible.

There’s lots about how other football countries despise English football and the FA because of how arrogant we are perceived to be, and this VAR is just the perfect example of it. We’ve done VAR differently to every other country, I’ve never seen those bullshit lines for offsides in other countries, the other countries use the monitors as intended from the start, and used it for a season or two earlier. Simply put we can’t do VAR properly because we ‘have’ to do it differently to everyone else for no reason other than the chiefs think we know more than every other association combined.

Couldn't agree more David. They've taken a positive technology that was designed to improve the game and managed to turned it into a negative. I hate Bamford, but that call last weekend, and the McGinn goal just shows that they have no intention of allowing common sense to dictate.
It also shows that they aren't willing to publicly explain their decisions. A quick two-minute explanation of why Bamford was onside, and why McGinn's shot was un-save-able would be far too hard for these in-breeds.
