I think it's the other way round.

You can spend 100% on infrastructure and 0% on players wages

But any on players wages has to be matched by the same amount on other things.

(Although in theory we are allowed to spend that much extra on players because of the infrastructure spend - BUT not compelled)

Nope. It is nothing to do with infrastructure spend. It is all about revenue. I get the feeling this will crop up a lot. And be misunderstood a lot.

Core Spending Limits
    • Squad Cost Cap: Set at 85% of a club's football-related revenue.
    • Included Costs: Player wages, head coach/manager wages, agent fees, and amortised transfer fees.
    • Excluded Costs: Spending on women's teams, academies, and club infrastructure.



    • Owner Funding and Monitoring
Equity Top-Up: Owners can provide a flexible top-up of £33 million over a three-year period (capped at a maximum of £15 million in a single season).
  • Real-Time Tracking: The EFL monitors spending continuously during the season instead of only reviewing finances after the year ends
 
Our revenue is projected to increase to approx 18-22 million
85% of that is 15.3mill - 18.7mill. That is the max squad cost we can spend.
NB AMORTISED TRANSFER COSTS. E.g. Divide coubis fee by 5.

On top Ron ‘Could’ add an extra 15million MAX. (Of that…85% can be added into the squad cost spend).

You don’t want to be going anywhere near that maximum

Squad cost last season was approx 5.5mill I believe.

I know that, but now that they've spent the infrastructure money, by the rules they have leeway to spend the same in scr costs. Question is, will they? Hence the multiple transfer record breaking comments from JG.

If I was an Oxford supporter I would be very worried at this point despite the promise of a new stadium.

Hence my question about why they aren't putting the money in now. They will have to eventually to keep the club afloat so might as well have done it before the deadline and not put themselves in a transfer embargo...
