Apologies to those who aren't into Soul music. We lost a great singer yesterday. Here is her rendition of "Natural Woman" recorded in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam in 1968. Soul, music from the heart. So many emotional songs from her. I hope you get the feel of how she gets into you with her voice. RIP soul sister.

Now here we do have a musical meeting of minds MA. Might not share your enthusiasm for Northern Soul but she really was one of the greats. The world is a poorer place.

We don't all like the same singers. I never saw what Elvis was all about. A short lived R&B come Rock n Roll career followed by 2 years in the army and then a succession of crap films and ballads. King of rock n roll? Still don't see it.

My favourite male singer has to be Otis. Female, of course, Aretha.

The 3 of them do have one thing in common. Mention their frst names and everybody immediately knows who you are talking about. That is a sign they have left a mark. A permanent one. Not for everybody but for very many.
