It’s from BBC WM which although I don’t really listen to the radio I would believe is more than just a sad twat posting silly videos

And the guy speaking is finance expert so I think there must be some merit in what he is saying

I think we are in a mess, I was worried 18 months ago about the way the club was heading but everyone said “it’s not your money so why do you care”, “dr tony will keep putting the cash in” etc

We blew all our money on overpriced mediocre championship players and put them on massive wages which will cost us for years to come and make them difficult to offload

Hopefully Dr Xia doesn’t do a Lerner and realise he can’t bankroll the club indefinitely and just pull out

Hence Bruce has to go

Oh yeah don' t doubt tbe original stuff but I was really talking about all the stupid tweets and videos from people that responded to the original. How hilarious they are.

We will have to manage like everyone else. We have players still on the books who will have to be sold or play. Players will still want to come to villa and we will just have to do what Cardiff or Huddersfield did with the wage bill they did it with. Time for a manager that can get something from nothing.

Wyness , being the experienced man that he is will have prepared for both scenarios. I am sure there is a plan in place. We may find it hard to take but the long term is more important.

Of course we will have to make some serious cutbacks but speculation (especially from radio stations and internet sites who tend to be controversial and sensationalist in order to get the phone calls/hits that they need to exist) is irrelevant until it becomes reality. Worrying over the next couple of months about what may or may not happen is not good for your health, so I am not going to fret about anybody's future until it is confirmed on the Villa website. Things will be tougher next season, and we cannot repeat past mistakes, but I think it is still a possibility for us to be in the mix for promotion with 10-12 others.

As someone from an academic background, I'd suggest taking any pronouncement from "an academic expert" with a barrow load of salt. Sometimes it's the only opportunity for people with obscure specialisations to get their spot in the limelight.

Reading what he said, it's so full of assumptions that it renders any conclusion worthless. Does he actually know what Villa's finances are like? Nope. Does he know what the pressures will be? Only in a limited way.

Wyness & Co are playing things very close to their chest. Not even Bruce knows what the position is or will be. But Wyness has said Villa are prepared for any eventuality. I trust Wyness; I think he meant it.

Villa have said repeatedly that the mess inherited from Randy was appalling. But, an awful lot of effort has gone into rectifying that. Hence the squeeze on transfer funds, last summer and January. Even the previous January the net spend wasn't much. Parachute payments seem to have gone largely on reducing debt, and keeping within FFP. The wage bill has come down a lot and will come down further; probably Richards is the only player left with a contract and earning a lot.

The "expert" said he had seen Hogan's contract and it's eye-watering. That doesn't make sense, given the fact Wyness & Co were fully aware of the stupidity of awarding long-term high-cost contracts.

I expect an even leaner, meaner future. We might be better for it. I can even see a greater reliance on this season's bench warmers, which is potetially more attractive than selling them off at bargain basement prices. But that may be one more reason to go for a different style of manager.

Have all the loaners left now presumably?
Terry is on a yacht going round the Greek isles pondering his future

Like Ricardomeister has stated, it’s pointless worrying. I trust Wyness has plans so am happy to leave him and his colleagues to act on it. Just hope they can see Bruce needs to be relieved of his duties.

As for players, I have no idea what’s going to happen in terms of FFP but I know two players I would love for us to sign. Financially it’ll be out of reach Im guessing. For me, defensively I would love to see Aden Flint and Joe Bryan come to us.

I'm really not too sure just how enforceable this FFP nonsense is anyway. QPR were fined something like £50-60m years ago and still haven't paid it, they keep appealing it in the courts. Leicester and Bournemouth both broke it in their promotion seasons as well and again have never paid anything.

Yes and last year Newcastle's wage bill alone was higher than their turnover . Massive gamble from them but they escape as they went straight back up.

FFP rules have changed. There's a range of penaties which can be imposed, some of which could include relegation. It's much harder now to avoid sanctions.

As regards last season, we were permitted to lose £35m for our last two PL season, and £13m in the Championship, total £83m over 3 seasons. I gather we just made it.

For this season, we're permitted to lose £35 +£13m + £13m over the last three seasons, total £61m. I gather we just made it.

For the coming season, we're permitted to lose £13m over the last 3 seasons, total £39m. All these figures only apply if the owner covers some of the debt with equity, a lot less if he doesn't. So Tone must have been putting money in.

The ray of light in the gloom is if we've lost less than £13m in either of the last two seasons. This is possible if the PL debts were higher than £35m per year, as they almost certainly were. It means in the new season we can lose £13m plus the debt shortfall (from £13m) from the previous two seasons.

If the above is right, financial restraint should be no worse than over the last two seasons. However, it may be more complicated than this, and does it give us enough room to manouevre?

The above may not be right if the debt in the PL years was less than £35m.

Don't need to listen to him to know we are up the creek he merely adds confirmation. When we can't afford to keep players like Snodgrass and Grabban it tells you all you need to know really. We needed to get promoted last season or this season and Bruce utterly failed us. Now we will become part of the furniture at this level or possibly even worse.

I find it utterly shocking to see some fans on twitter and elsewhere thanking Xia Wyness and Bruce for this mess when Lerner and co got it in the neck for just missing out on the champions league. 4th in the 2nd tier and play off failure is utterly abysmal and Bruce should've already been sacked. Funny old club this I don't know what to make of it anymore. I just hope it can survive at Championship level long enough to rebuild.

QPR will hit the point of no legal recourse.

Bournemouth I think settled, I know for a fact Leicester did.
