Are we allowed to buy things before checking with Vital members for advice?

I have just realised that I may have broken a cardinal Vital Villa rute in ordering a new TV in the sales bewteen Christmas and January (It seems that January sales have now been abandonned in Norway in favour of the new variant) without consulting about it one here first.

So, 2 questions:-

1.Is this a banning offence? If so, it's been nice knowing you all (well some of you anyway)
2.Have I made a decent decision in spite of my lack of consultation? I'm not that knowledgable about TVs but have read up a little in order to make my decision.

I've bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-55PUS6412-139cm-Ambilight-Smart/dp/B06XHMHXY6

I got it for about £500.

I'm shocked VOTN.

Shocked at the cavalier way you have spent £500 without checking on here for expert advice. As this is a first offence (as far as we are aware), you might get away with a warning, or a strongly worded PM from Our Leader.

:22:

Oooooooo, I'm not sure what a "stringly worded PM" might be like but it doesn't sound good.

Anyone know anything about the telly? Not that I can do much about it now but it might be nice to know if I've bought a pup or not.

Lol, no idea about the TV (looks pretty decent to me), but my typing is shocking! I might have to buy some kind of spell checker, although obviously I will ask on Vital for the best one :3:

I think Deano destroyed this tradition by ignoring the sage advice of Vital Villa and discussing his purchase with his wife.

We need Murph back to restore order.

Talking about advice, something that I've been meaning to post for a few months now.

I keep getting text's from something called "TestersKeep" offering that if I test products, normally TV's or such like, you get to keep them for free.

The text contains a website link to reply to.

I have resisted the urge to reply so far, on the basis that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Has anyone else any experience of these type of texts and are they a scam?

I'd better not tell you all about my buying a new Roy Orbison CD (with backing from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), also on Amazon.

Your first thought was correct Q. I am a comper (I enter competitions as a hobby and yes I do win) We as compers get besieged with bullsh*t like this: junk box and delete is the way for it to go Q

You won't get anything out of it other than more rubbish from other companies: once you have clicked the link you will be taken to a site that is a grey area, who will want all sorts of details from you and then sell your details on and so it continues.

Plus when you have clicked from your mobile no they then know it's live: BINGO we know that no real so we can sell it on.

It's amazing the stunts these people try to pull

Ahem as well am I in trouble too? I finally got the bread maker I wanted for Christmas. I did not check this out. I know JPA has a bread maker so I am probably in trouble with JPA.

I had done alot of research and everything kept coming back to the Panasonic so that is now what I own. This weekend I shall be sitting down to read said bread maker book and start whipping up delightful aromas to wake up too

That't the plan unless JPA has sent me to the bread making gallows

Wow , schoolboy error

Panasonic > Samsung > Phillips

Yeah, I bought a Philips and it broke within two years. My Sharp is still rocking and rolling.

We have a Philips now, had it for about 8 years so I'm not overly worried. In addition, with items of this value, in addition to th 2 years manufacturer's warranty Norwegian law gives 5 years "reklamasjonsrett" which is like a government enforced guarantee so it's, in effect, guaranteed for 5 years.

As for Panasonic > Samsung > Phillips, surely that depends on which model one buys and how much one pays for the equivalent model ( in terms of if it's a good buy or not)

To be honest, I only ever have Samsung TVs, usually because I had Samsung DVD and Blu-Ray players, etc. Always found them to be top notch, and wouldn't look for aything else unless the deal was too good.

Sounds like you have a very good deal there, VOTN.

Panasonic are the last word in bread makers, KK. Well done, go to the top of the class :1:

I always thought that was the tradition? Waste months getting advice on here, then do the opposite. It's what I've always done anyway. :39:

The Tesco own brand bread maker had a very good reputation and cheap as chips. If you want something with more features, you have to step up quite a ways in price.
