April's No Joke For Villa's Loanees - It's Almost Time For Decisions To Be Made - Round Up

Thanks for that Mike.... good read.

It's funny, we do seem to think some of our young lads are the bees knees, but when they go out on loan, they end up close to the bottom of the barrel.

After saying that, the lads who are out on loan aren't necessarily the 'new crop' that's turning it on, but never the less, these loans do open your eyes.

Good luck to 'em all.

Not sure I'd say good read lol

Yeah we always overhype don't we, but at least we are now starting to get them out at the right ages so they have time to show they have learned and improved. Pointless sending out 22 year olds on a first loan spell and forgetting it's part of a learning curve they should've had at 17/19.

As you say though, Wright, Revan etc are the new crop - Vass is one caught in the middle in some ways.

Time will always tell but when you see these guys playing in non-league or struggling for game time in the lower reaches of the FL then you do have to assume they probably won’t make the grade with us.

The latest crop of players in the u23s do seem a bit more exciting, of course we’ve been here before in previous years and it’s not led to anything but there does seem to be quite a few who are particularly highly rated, Barry, Chukweuma, Ramsey, Kessler Hayden, Philogene Bidace - if just one or two of them then can become PL players then that’s a pretty good outcome for the club

Even in the lower leagues they're competing with seasoned pros, and they're still learning what real football is. On the whole I think they're doing OK. Can't say more than that. At least we seem to be pretty quick at finding new clubs for those not getting game time.

Yup, not everyone will make it but also, at least we now have a plan and are getting them out at the right ages as opposed to 22/23 as by that age, whatever talent they had has stalled through lack of real experience.
