Apple Watch

I see Apple have launched their watch that pairs with your iPhone to... eh... technology... and stuff. They start from $350 and go all they way up to $17k.

Being a laggard, I just can't see the point but I'm sure some of you early-adapters will put me right.

What do you think? Is it just Apple cashing in on their fans with another semi-useless 'device' or are you excited about this latest addition to the technological revolution?

I don't see the point either. You have to have your phone in your pocket for it to work... how difficult is it to just get your phone out of your pocket and use all your apps on that rather than use your watch?

Having said that I'm hoping to have 17k spare after the Cheltenham Festival so might just buy one for the sake of it. lol

meh... I didn't like my ipad, won't be having other i products apart from the ipod that I have which apparently they have stopped making now (the classic)

I think your other half and baby might have something to say about that

Not interested either. I won 1 of these faffy watches which I gave to Mr KK as he is gadget mad. He says it's O.K but nothing spectacular. OK it isn't 1 of these all singing all dancing but sounds to me just like an expensive version of what Mr KK is, which was about £100.

I believe 1 of the versions of this, is very much aimed towards sports people, so maybe it will interest Sir Dennis/Juan, or even our Clubpaver, so he doesn't think he has been left out, more

I was half expecting to open this thread and see a picture of Bill Oddie sitting in some sort of hide commentating on the actions of a green grocer or the activity around a fruit orchard.

Its Apple cashing in on their moronic fanboys! A watch with 18 hours battery life lol. You couldnt make this stuff up.

To be fair, there are already a number of Android based watcheson the market, most nitably from Samsung, and mlst of these are also useless without having the phone with you, linked to it.

Did you type that on your Android watch? :19:

I do wonder how those Android watches are selling. There will be thousands of people who will buy the Apple watches just because Apple made them. Thousands won't be enough though. Can Apple as a brand survive a commercial disaster at this point?

I think the Android watches that are marketed as fitness aids sell quite well, not too sure about the others though. An Android watch that has SIM connect-ability is another prospect but it seems that not of the big manufacturers are currently heading in that direction.

I bought the LG G Watch about 3 months ago. I wear it every day now. You can see who's calling without struggling to get your phone out of your pocket on a cold day. You can reject the call, send a quick text or email and if you're into exercise it will track your heartbeat and number of steps.

I get live football scores and weather on it as well.

Add to that the Golf GPS app which I use nearly every day, and it is a great watch.

As an added bonus, I can have a different watch face for different occasions. The old Casio for informal, and a Breitling or Tissot for dresswearr at the moment, but the choices are astounding.

Apple are a bit late, but if they learn from all the mistakes made on early Android watches, they should sell a few. 18 hours battery life is not a good start, though.

I was hoping for your input, Heath. As our resident early adapter, I thought you might have one already. I'm glad you find it useful.

I wonder if Paddy Power will give me odds on Deano buying one within a year?

I have four Tag Heuer watches, 2 limited editions. I hope that helps.

You have to put them in the bin now and buy one that tells you the golf and rejects your calls. Heath said so.

Just got back home from holiday, BB, or I would have responded sooner!!!

It's the same as most gadgets, I suppose. You don't really need it, but I find it useful. The number of times I have been too late getting my phone out of my pocket, whereas with the watch I can answer it and then get the phone out. Even better, rejecting calls. It feels great to just not have to bother.

I forgot about the timer, which I use when cooking (just say set timer for 20 minutes and it's done). The same with reminders - just speak what you want into the phone and it's done.

Deano should wait for the ultra fancy ones coming out soon. 18 carat gold and diamonds. That's more his style, isn't it?

I'm thinking of selling my Breitling!!! Well, not really. I love it, but never really wear it these days. They are a decent investment, so I'll probably keep it!!!
