Anyone home via Stratford International last night ?

Vital Champions League
Just wondered if anyone took the train home from Stratford Intl last night ?

We came out of St.Pancras Intl at 22.55 and it was rammed so much so that no one could get on at Stratford. I suspect the next one would have been as well.

Lots of unhappy hammers on the platform.

So just wondered if anyone got stuck.

Markinkent -- yer I too had the pleasure of being on that cattle train last night I had to laugh when it pulled into strafford and everyone was trying to squeeze on some bloke was shouting out can you move down the aisles were trying to get on You couldn't fit a newspaper between us ha ha

I was on that train. Couldn't believe how busy it was. Fortunately I got off at Ebbsfleet where i'd parked the car so it wasn't for too long

Worst part for me was that we sprinted through STP so that we could get the traditional boots meal deal as we were starving. No fun standing there with the bag but not able to reach down and grab anything.

Its not like that after most away days :-)

Nope I went from White Hart Lane to Severn Sisters on the overground train then took the Victoria Line underground to Victoria and got on the 23:07 train there. No problems getting a seat as I was one of the first on, having got to Victoria about 22:45.
Worst part of the journey for me was on the way there I got the central line tube from Oxford Circus to Liverpool St where I was meeting people and it was absolutely rammed and really hot!

Yes, I was waiting for the 23:02 at Stratford last night (which would have been the train you refer to) and the platform was full of Gills fans.
I feared the worst when it was announced that the 'incoming 23:02 is formed of 6 coaches'. I thought then we'd have no chance...why only 6 coaches?....Sure enough it was rammo when it arrived, but I just about squeezed on by pushing my way on. The carriage I got on actually did have space for people to shove down a bit, which they did. It was a sardine job all the way to Gravesend where some got off and I could finally breathe out.

The things we do follow Gills.

I did, but I get off at Ashford so wasn't with the crux of the Gills fans and mockney throngs who were on the Medway bound trains - I also do the trip daily so now how to get through Stratford and Westfield and where to stand in the platform to be right next to the door when the train stops (and have negotiated West Ham match days a few times already), so was fine, but it is a massive shambles around Westfield and Stratford in terms of organisation on matchdays. Also, West Ham fans really are largely an odious bunch of wideboy tossers who give the likes of Millwall and Leeds a run for their money in the scum stakes. It's a marked difference from the Spurs fans who seemed OK (alright there are a few idiots, but there were also some gills muppets there last night too, but the proportion is far lower than West Ham ones).

Also, disgusted to see the numbers of mockneys getting trains back to Kent with west ham shirts on - there were loads of them, even on my train with most seeming to stay in beyond Ashford. Ok, there will be. Few exiles there but suspect most of them are bandwagon boy mockneys (and I know a few) - another sad endictment on modern football culture a long way from the walk or short drive to your local
team up streets you're familiar with which is the way I was brought up on football and taken to the Gills.

Steve, I get your point about supporting your local team and all that and the chant that went out about we support our local team was a good comeback to the yids taunts. But I think the footballl that they played was really good to watch, the movement the passing no hoofs and so if someone wanted to go and watch a team like Spurs and weren't fortunate enough to live in somewhere like Enfield for arguements sake, then why shouldn't they be entitled to travel up from out of area. Could you imagine being subject to watching PT's dross that was served up a few seasons back, week after week, it would do my swede in. As it happens I quite enjoy the lower league stuff, I enjoy it's rawness and also go to the Chats too, (I like my steak blue), but it's not for everyone so if it's not for you, then they shouldn't be decried as being out of order if they travel further afield and watch a more technically adept team.

Chiptech - I get your point and it's kind of the same argument I've batted back previously re the England team. My loyalty dictates that my club and country are in my blood and I'll always be loyal to England and Gills - it's not a matter of picking and choosing what types of football we (Gills and England) play, what types of characters are involved, and heat the results are - you support your local team and country. Don't get me wrong, I like watching Prem Leagues, Champs League and overseas/international games (and have seen a few games in the flesh as a neutral over the years), but for me, it would be massively fake to pick and choose who I watch and "support" based on how successful they are and how lovely their football is.

...we've seen teams over the years who were lamented by their fans for playing football the 'right way' suddenly changing styles under sometimes just a single manager. It seems silly to support a team because of their style of football, or because they're good at the time. With Spurs I can understand it in areas like Bucks but Essex and Kent? There's local teams nearby. I would've happily sang a few "We Support Our Local Team" and "Fuck The Premier League" songs.

My train back from St Pancras to Ashford was standing. Not too bad though. Getting from WHL to STP was the bigger arse for me, given my phone died. Ended up retracing my steps back and going via Bruce Grove which was a poor idea.
