Premier League warn they will prosecute anyone involved in illegal streaming of live matches

Anyone involved in the illegal streaming of live Premier League matches has been warned they face prosecution after five people were arrested in dawn raids on Wednesday.

The arrests took place amid dwindling audiences across Sky Sports and BT Sport and a rise in the number of armchair fans finding ways to watch games without paying for the privilege.

I hear a lot about these Kodi boxes but I've kept well away.

Does anyone use them to watch the PL?

They reckon over 20 million people around the world use kodi and may be more.

They arrested people who sell the boxes. You can download kodi on to most devices yourself these days but many people cant be bothered with the hassle so buy these preloaded boxes.

We're back to the TV debate again really none of us want to do the illegal thing but if Kodi works, many will try it, I have heard of them but not seen them or know of anyone who has one. You just wonder if there ARE many around.

WHAT WE NEED is legislation to help the fans plight. Companies buy the rights to show games, OK, I'm alright with that AS LONG AS ONLY ONE COMPANY BUYS THE RIGHTS. AS LONG AS TWO BUY THE RIGHTS TO GAMES, THE FANS HAVE LOST. I have full sky and bought the SKY Sports package for the football but NOW I have to to buy BT Sports AS WELL to get the games AND EVEN THEN I don't get them all. THIS IS FRUSTRATING.

WHAT WE NEED IS FOR ONE COMPANY ONLY to buy the rights. WE ALSO NEED MORE games shown. OR for THFC to have their own channel and show all their games.

you must mean give a company a total monopoly on all televised games... that way they can charge what they like, without any vestige even of competition to limit their greed..

how wise.

I got Kodie on a firestick heard about it a while ago from someone on this site during a game. It is not just kodi it is the add ons that kodie lets you use like Phoenix Sports. Though like many on here I have Sky Sports and BT Sports but that doesn't cover every game. Kodie covers every game. I would prefer to watch it legally paying say a per game fee but that is not available

or.... maybe more and more working-class people simply cannot afford to shovel money SKy's way, due to job-insecurity, ever-decreasing wages, zero-hours contracts, and the prospect of even more harships to follow soon...

That's it in a nutshell Sir Dick.

More and more people are getting made redundant, when they do like me they have to take a massive pay cut, and either get stuck in a dead end job earning anything from £7.20-£9 an hour or you have to work part time and try and study to better yourself. Which is what I'm doing.

How the hell am I supposed to pay for sky or BT on a part time wage when I have a mortgage? How delusional are some people? I totally get why some do illegal streaming. I have done in the past. Don't really bother these days.

I cancelled my SkySports and BT sports package over a year ago. Even if I was comfortable I wouldn't pay the prices. Robbing scumbags.

Real Deal..

I feel your pain mate.. I've even tried to Pole-dance part-time to make ends meet, but Pawel next door won't have it... simply refuses too!

It's a difficult one but I have said before...you only get one life. You can work your butt off paying a mortgage only to leave to your family when you snuff it through exhaustion . Then have to sell it if you live long to pay for somebody to clean up your piss and shit in a care home.

I have been to he'll and back with money. Lost 250 k through a divorce after giving her the house I bought before we met. Then losing my next house after an illness rendered my partner unemployable ( epilepsy ). We had to sell the house after trying to pay the mortgage for many years after her illness just on my earnings. After a while we decided to sell and rent a small bungalow to give us some quality of life. We cleared all our debt, I set up 2 new business ventures with the money left . If I live long ( doubtful ) the council pays for my care cos I ain't got a house. My family get nothing either, my money goes on my life not theirs. If I come into some wedge ( possible ) I may consider buying a small place . But at 56 I want to enjoy my life, even if it's a bit of footy on the tele and the odd cinema trip.

Top read that. Sorry to hear about all the issues you have had.

My wife has several illnesses, unfortunately she is the bread earner. I think sooner or later we will down size. I want to move somewhere cheap with no mortgage so we can enjoy our lives.

We don't have kids, not interested in that. My money will go on me and the wife. I will leave enough for the funeral, but I will make sure I will spend every penny before I go. Any left over will go to a charity.

there are many millions that expect the State (councils up and down country) to pay for their healthcare, social-care and maybe even sheltered housing when they are old..... but few realise the implications of the political drive to reduce the State with evermore tax-cuts, and reduce its provision of even basic services...

but they will soon enough...

Glad to hear you have your head screwed on RD. It took a while for me to learn, or get worn down to the point of realisation but like I said it's quality of life that matters.

I have fibromyalgia or ME which knocked me for 6 a few years ago but have it virtually beat now. It whiped me out for 6 months and once again all our savings went as I could not work. I don't get to games anymore partly due to the illness and me working weekends so the TV is precious to me to the extent of ignoring the cost really. I am waiting for one big killing in the art world to lift me from the mire. I have 23 original paintings by a famous artist sold to me by his daughter. Painted in the 1960s . I have had newspapers involved to get the story out there and may set up a virtual museum soon. So don't feel too sorry mate and keep fighting.
