I'm off to the Bingley Music Festival next weekend (support your local festival!). Over the last 5 years this has grown from a load of tribute bands thru a rash of 'I didn't know they were still going' names to a well organised event with well known names like Primal Scream and Chic.
Having eschewed 3 day festivals some time ago as muddy nightmares with overpriced beer and bad drugs I am only going on the Sun specifically to see Chic (seen Primals several times in the past)
Despite my ground zero approach to rock dinosaurs and disco when punk happened I've always rated Chic as the best funk band ever and a must to see given the chance.
So has anybody seen live any of these and rates them. (please note: if an act is best described as 'indie' or 'folky' dont waste your time recommending them to me). punky, rocky, souly, grimy or electronic or 'spacious' please
The Cribs
Katy B
The Wonderstuff
Theme Park
China Rats
Sons and Lovers
St Somebody
I shall be avoiding the Wonderstuff like I did the first time round
also on the minor stage:
Lucy Spraggan
JJ Rosa
Rose and the Howling North
Man Can't Fly
Holy Moly and the Crackers
Dolomite Minor
Born Thief
Issimo
this lot appear to be more folky but if anybody can recommend one of them as something more interesting please do.
Did anybody else watch the Chic Glastonbury performance? Tight as a duck's chuff. If you can (youtube?) watch the encore of Good Times and look out for the bellend dancing (I use the term very loosely) in a white shirt behind Nile.
What an arse - onstage in front of thousands....texting someone!!! He also takes a personal bow at the end like a ****.
