Any News On Bostwicks Injury

Does anyone have any news on his injury problem and likely return for the new season games.

In his after match Blackburn interview DC said that Bostwick would have played if it was a league game, though he did say Bozzie would play on with lots of serious injuries, he is that type of character.

Well at least that's some good news. better than I was expecting to hear.

He was doing fitness work at the club last Thursday. Running around the perimeter of the pitch, sprinting and slowing down etc, clearly troubled by it, as kept clutching his calf after.

But I wouldn't say it looked serious, as he was running, using a ball at times etc.

I am a bit more perplexed by O'Connor - He played towards the back end of the season, so why he has not been able to play would concern me a bit.

last thursday if boz was still suffering, that was 9 days after the original injury. depends what people call a niggle i suppose.

tonight will be two weeks since the injury. it will be good to have him back picking up those invaluable pre-season 'minutes'

Is it a secret?

They want to do some physio work on his knee to improve the extension because the more movement he has in it the better the long term strength, durability and performance of the joint. The choice was to take time out of pre-season to do this work for the benefit of the rest of the season/his career, or to set him off, but not quite at the optimum level that his knee would work at. As a person who has broken his knee, I would always go with the physio - you have a long time to rely on your knees after you retire.

Ref the Beast. He struggles with his lower back. Several times that has been mentioned. If the lower back is compromised then you will pick up additional injuries around calf, hamstrings and glutes...as they have to work harder to compensate for the lower back.

I speak from first hand experience from going through a nasty back op. It is all linked. I was by no means a professional athlete...but just keeping fit was a huge struggle...as everything else compensates and you end up picking up secondary soft tissue complaints.

You end up doing a lot of core work to try and protect the lower back as much as possible. That is just to be able to keep moving...let alone being a professional in a sport.

Good points from Jeff above - Danny will not risk Bozzie in friendlies if there are questions about his wellbeing. Too many players had to battle on at the back-end of last season carrying injuries and that will be something we'll be looking to avoid this year.

The Sports Science team must have him doing the mother of all core workouts!!

Don't worry about Bossie. In his time he has cured leprosy and the blind. He can also walk on water, and turn water to wine.
I very much doubt a little back trouble is enough to stop him!

There is no such thing as "a little back trouble" with hamstrings and calf muscles.

Yep I always wondered why my knees and ankles hurt when I was getting over a back problem... Until someone explained it to me. That someone ended up having operations on his leg because of ongoing back problems. Go figure.
