There was a sell on

according to the evening post there wasn't.

West ham generally don't accept sell on clauses.

was straight up cash.

This is an extract from a Post report on September 01, 2015.

Michail Antonio's £7m move to West Ham has been completed, with the winger joining from Nottingham Forest on a four year contract.

The 25-year-old completed a successful round of talks with the Premier League club this morning, after a slight hiccup in the deal was ironed out.

The two clubs had agreed a fee yesterday, but there was a brief delay after Forest requested that the entire fee be paid up front.

So fee paid-up front by Wham so I suspect no sell-on. We also paid Sheff Wednesday 20% of the fee received apparently which seems like good business from them as they only had him for 2 seasons.

There are loads of things to pan Fawaz about, but surely buying a player for £1.5m selling him for a nett £5.6m and getting 16 goals out of him in 50 games is not one of them! We certainly got more for him than Sheff Wed did, and people are saying their sell on clause was good business!

Outside of the academy players, Antonio is probably the best bit of business the club has ever done!

we could of and should of got far more for Antonio. he was the best player in the division by far.

no sell on clause was criminal. he is part of the England setup a year later and now linked with Chelsea.

terrible business.

Fee up front doesn't mean no sell-on though. It just means not in instalments. A sell-on clause is aside from the agreed fee.

I know but it suggests that Fawaz went all out for maximum cash input. He demonstrated in the Burke deal that he's prepared to trade-off future profits for instant gratificartion. In fact, it's probably Wham that put the idea in his mind before Burke.

Given we needed the money to get us compliant with FFP, it wasn't an unreasonable deal at the time to get the money up front.

Plenty on here thought he'd flop in the premier league. I have to say I didn't think he'd be anything like the success he has been.

Wasn't that just a careless whisper?

I've heard similar although that was last Christmas.
