Ange has learned what?

Wait for what ? The Ange rumours started in the summer, he was available.
Wait for "the ideal" new manager to make his mind up? Or perhaps " the ideal" new manager said " I'll start on Monday" then changed his mind or any one of a dozen other scenarios.

Nuno was toast from the minute EM walked onto the pitch at the Leicester game, and the signings we have made clearly weren’t for a defensive minded manager.
So why wait ?
We could have given Ange a preseason, now he is immediately under pressure. He needs a win today it’s that simple and that is unfair.
Liverpool only won there with a last minute dubious penalty.
For all the talk of how we’ll run we are, we have royally shit the bed this season and if it does end in relegation those in charge will absolutely have to own that.
It’s completely on them.

Not sure that's true, although it was a marker.

We need a win but is more important we don't lose and that we start to see signs of getting to grips with how ange wants to play. We also need to see game management again.

Is no one gonna do a match fred?

Spot on. Nuno didn't fancy it and what sweeter way than a big compo payout to help him through the winter. If anything it's once again the owner who has been shafted.

Imo nuno wasn't happy with the profile of player we bought in as much as anything else and perhaps forgot he was coach not a manager.

So why did he give Nuno a new contract?
It doesn't make sense.
He knows he's going to fire Nuno but just decides to give him a bunch of free money for absolutely no reason at the same time??
You’re right it doesn’t make sense, I suspect he was in two minds? Indecisive if you will.
But that indecisiveness (is that a word?)
Is going to cost us.

If Nuno was toast after the Leicester game how come he was given a new and improved 3 year contract in the summer?

I definitely think EM should have been much more decisive.
He can't have been unaware that there was an issue between Edu and Nuno, but he's clearly decided to just sit and wait until Nuno went insane.

You see that’s where I differ I think it’s slightly the other way around.
I think Nuno will think he was pushed out.
Players signed not his, managerial rumours in the press.
Not saying he is totally without blame.

So why not sign the players he wants ?
Why sign predominantly players for an attack minded coach?
It’s almost like we were in two minds ….
So it's Edu who has shafted the owner? More than a few people in the game think that he's less than perfect? Or again it could be that " the ideal new players" weren't available and then were and the next day weren't again. Football is a shit show for owners for many reasons.

The only thing we (think we) know is that he wanted Traore and didn’t want Luiz. Beyond that we have no idea who Nuno wanted or what positions he wanted filled.

We needed more attacking options, we needed full backs and we needed a midfielder. Everyone bar Luiz fits the club’s ‘philosophy’.

We will never know exactly what went on but the players we did sign were needed.

Disagree. Not an unreasonable expectation from 2 people whom you are giving millions of pounds a year to. Its a common enough expectation.
Personally I think its poor for him not to know what's going on inside his own club, or to just leave huge irretrievable problems to fester.

If I were to run a business and I was given a choice between assuming everything is fine and sorting out a problem that will cost the club severely, I'd probably sort the problem out.

Knowing whether he's in that situation is the thing that should separate the elite owners from the rest.

Its not the worst thing ever, just a mistake from EM.

Imo em has made a mistake but that is appointing ange. I don't think it was foreseeable that nuno would walk in the way that he did. EM was not in a position to get rid of nuno at the end of the season. Was prepared to invest and no doubt felt that was sufficient support (along side a seven figure salary) to retain nuno, hence a 3 year contract. EM then proceeds to buy 150m ish of new talent but nuno didnt like it and walked. Had nuno been a manager then more sympathy but he has always been a coach and was expected to work with what he was given. I dont see any particular mistake here by EM.

Maybe, but that was poor judgement from him if they weren't going to do that.

I would be surprised if he didn’t know but I also have no problem if he decided to let them resolve it themselves. In hindsight, yes, it’s a mistake but expecting adults to work together like adults is not unreasonable.

We will start to find out today whether the new manager is a mistake…

You say that but if we play well

Deserve to win

But lose

Then people will be saying hes definitely a mistake

When we might get unlucky again like at Swansea

Lot of luck involved (good and bad) in football results Bash?

Ultimately a manager is judged on results. Luck is largely irrelevant to that process.

Winning while not playing well is what we want. Last season we did that a number of times. Is Ange capable of helping us do that when needed?

Not necessarily. If we play well and deserve to win, even if we lose then I won't automatically be demanding his head. Would rather play badly and win tho
