Ange has learned what?

Ange, two games in. What has he learned?

Sels #1

Williams and Z are the best fullbacks. Savona decent cover at right back.

Milenkovic and Murillo are first choice CBs. Morato will backup, Boly not. Cuhna will get playing time.

Sangare is too slow for Prem, will play Europa. Luiz and Anderson will become first choice pairing.

MGW will be pushed by McAtee for the 10.

Bakwa and Ndoye will push CHO hard for starting winger position. Hutchinson is behind.

The trio of Woods, Jesus and K will rotate in the line striker role, depending on the opposition.

If Dominguez returns the same player, as too Aina, then we're essentially a squad of 22.

Who's the back-up keeper longterm?

Hopefully he's learned never to leave Sangare on the pitch for more than an hour.
I think he still has plenty to learn about our back 4, but Williams Milenkovic Murillo Zinchenko look ridiculously strong.
Same can be said for Anderson and Luiz in midfield. If he can get them both playing at 100% they should be able to dominate games.
I think we all just learned last night that Jesus will score goals. That's a nice lesson.

Yes that was a positive from yesterday.

agreed.

Morato and Cunha for CB cover. Boly can go to Saudi now actually. Craig Dawson available on a free!

Luiz has to start
MGW will come good again.
Zinchenko was excellent
Jesus looks a very clever player. Start Wood but we have good strength up front now. Kali finished well also

Bakwa will be great, so give him a start.

If Morato starts vs Burnley (cos there's no guarantee that Murillo will be fit) and he has a stinker...is he then re-off to Saudi?

Does he then take Boly's place on the plane, or is he sat alongside him?

Cos, lets not forget, apparently Morato was worse than Stephen Yaxley-Lennon at organising a defence vs Arsenal.

And our fans are only interested in results not entertaining football?

Don't know what Ange has learned because I really don't know what affects or has influence on his thinking. After watching the match through again this is what ii have learned though. We have enough at our disposal I am convinced of that at least, strip out a few of last nights starters and we will be fine. I think we have found a goal scorer (a massive plus). The carabou is almost a traditional graveyard for Premier Leauge clubs anyway, we are well shut of it. The next game is the important one and I've a feeling that we will be OK.

When results are good over time, performance and entertainment matters. That's where we were last winter.
When results are bad, performance is (usually also) bad.
There are the odd bad results with entertaining performances, but moral victories are not for Forest fans.

I can definitely agree the forward play was positive. If we can integrate that onto our existing defensive solidity then we will be in business.

🤞

Can only speak for myself but results first, entertainment secondary.

Arsenal under graham were the most boring team ever but they won stuff.
100% mate, the fact that we lost that game negates any entertaining football. Personally I just want to see my team win, yes it's nice if they paly some free flowing football along the way, but winning is the key & It also doesn't matter who we beat it could be Salmon Tin Rovers for all I care

Winning is the only thing that matters when it comes to assessing the entertainment value, winning football is entertaining football & means we have a successful team.

As you say 1-0 to the Arsenal was all that mattered then, just as 1-0 to the Nottingham is all that matters now. If we win I'm happy if we don't I'm not simple as that

The problem with Ange is that it’s not clear that he does learn - we saw that at Tottenham where suicidal football often cost them points. He was popular in the dressing room, even at the end, and it’s admirable to want to play on the front-foot.

For long spells yesterday, we were very entertaining. Some of the football was gorgeous, we were knocking it around at a pace they couldn’t cope with. We missed at least three sitters, and their keeper made a world class save.

If we play like that and finish mid-table, I dare say a lot of us would be entertained. But if we defend in that manner, especially going into stoppage time, with our defensive midfielders still playing high up the pitch, teams will take advantage.

The question is always how do you compromise between the attacking and defensive elements of the game. Is it even possible for Ange to do that - is a lot of his success because of the defensive naïveté, with the extra attacking players yielding that little bit more to overload the opposition?

That’s my concern - that the football we’re going to try to play has a deep and fundamental flaw that can only be fixed by breaking its best feature, and if that’s the case then the outcome can only ever be failure.

We’ll find out a lot more in our next 2 matches, because four points is realistically the least we can afford. We won virtually every equivalent fixture like this pair last season, so we can’t afford no wins whatsoever.
