And they're off

Those 7 have clocked up the highest speeds so far according to Opta.

I'll post the list in order of fastest to slowest in a couple of days.

Meanwhile if you want to have a guess at the order, fire away.

I've always wondered what people mean by 'the fastest'. The fastest over ten yards? fifty yards? 100 yards? The top speed managed?

For me, the most damaging thing is change of pace, and acceleration over short distances.

For the purpose of this Hominid I'm looking for top speed clocked but agree with your points.

Lee One Pen was fast from zero for about 10 yards, so change of pace is what counts in a forward. Leroy with a through ball to run onto for 50 yards would win hands down in our current squad I think.

Some very observant VMC members.

Sane has clocked the highest speed, in fact he clocked the highest speed the PL has seen (since the stattos started recording it) at 35.48kph against Chelsea on Saturday.

That puts him just ahead of Walker with 35.23kph

And Sterling at 35.04kph

The next fastest is Danilo

And then surprisingly ( to me at least) it's Stones

Followed by Aguero and Mendy.

Trying to think who the slowest might be Yaya probably with quick burst up to 3 or 4 metres
I reckon our slowest player would be the Otter
